To: all the gurus of LoneWolf please feel free to comment on how u guys feel about it i just got to know there's an online feature just after i've sold my 1-25 series of books. and since i've decided to start all over again, i've came to Book 6. it was then that i realised something is not quite right. when you started again with the magnakai series, i guess its assumed that we all possessed our kai skills. So here the problem comes, supposed u chose Psi screen(magnakai) as ur skills, so what do u do?do you add a additional 4 CS on top of your kai mindblast which is 4 + 2 = 6 CS OR Do you discard your mindblast ability(kai) thus keeping it to 4? (discarding kai skills does'nt make much sense) *Note: Psi screen has a lesser version(magnakai) and it is said to be Mindblast. this left me wondering are they the same mindblast in Kai series we're talking about?

hmm, I guess you mean psi-surge... well, in the project Aon handbook there's info on transferring a character from the Kai to the Magnakai series and then to the GM... But as for Psi-Surge, I think you cannot use two forms of psychic attack at the same time, you have to settle for the lower form (mindblast) which has a smaller bonus but is free in EP or for psi-surge, stronger but with EP cost (also, some critters are also affected by psi-surge). You get to keep your Mindblast after playing the Kai series if you got that discipline for completing books 1-5... if you start from scratch with the Magnakai series, you only get Mindblast when/if you select Psi-Surge as a Magnakai discipline. It's similar to the Kai Curing bonus, a "loyalty bonus" for those who completed the whole Kai series before starting the Magnakai books.

Thank you andy for replying, yes i meant psi-surge.
i guess that you meant to say that we bring over our Kai skills bonus. say mindblast +2 CS. Suppose base CS = 18 + 2(mindblast)
Thus on the new Magnakai book. i would have starting 20 CS. and if i chose psi-surge as skill, then it would mean 20+2 OR 20+4 depending on the version which i use at will. If there's anything i didn't say it right, please correct me

Sorry, I was trying to say it the other way round, I did not make myself clear...
Kai Books, you get Mindblast, so CS 18 + 2 = 20 CS when using Mindblast
When you get Psi-Surge in the Magnakai series, you would be still 18 + 2 (when using Mindblast) or 18 + 4 (when using Psi-Surge and expending EP). You don't get a 2nd Mindblast in addition to the Kai series Mindblast... the gist of it is that if you have not played the Kai series, you can only access that ability if you choose Psi-Surge in the Magnakai books, and at that point you get access to the "old" Mindblast, not an additional one.
I normally don't just add psychic attack discipline bonuses to my CS, because there are quite a few creatures immune to either or both of them, so in my Action chart I usually write
CS=x (flat base value, plus Lore-Circle additions) CS=x+y (adding the different bonuses from miscellaneous special items, like helmet, shield, bracers) CS=X+y+3 (for when using Weaponmastery weapons) CS=x+y+3+8 (that's for the Sommerswerd, sure, if you have it) CS=x+y+3+8+2 (for Mindblast-vulnerable enemies)
So, in most normal combats I use the last value. When I run into an enemy immune to Mindblast I use the previous one... If for any reason I get befeft of my equipment, or forced to use a weapon I don't have WM in, or refrain to use the Sommerswerd for some reason, I don't need to redo the math, I just take the appropiate number. And when I use Psi-Surge, I just remember to add 4 to the Mindblast-less total CS, that way I remember that every round I use it I also have to deduct EP.
