Re-reading the introduction to Flight from the Dark made me realize something I never thought of before...
Are there any references to Lone Wolf's family and parentage in the books?
It seems they may have been at the monastery when it was attacked - but there's no explicit mentions of family - it all seems more related to kinsmen.
Makes sense that Joe would have kept quiet about them to help immersion, and to help establish the theme of growing independence. I'm still curious if they are referenced though.
I've only read the gamebooks so this may have been established in the novels. I couldn't find any previous mentions of this in threads, so hopefully somebody more familiar with the lore can help.

I don't know about any general references, but there was at least one specific reference to Lone Wolf's family in the books, although I don't know if it was the only one. I don't remember which book it's in, but I do remember that it mentions Lone Wolf's brother and that it specifies that he drowned.

Called Silent Wolf changed name to Lone Wolf after the Kai Monastery attack. His parents (Mother Houva, Father Rosk, died when Lone Wolf was only 4 years old) named him Landar. Landar (Lone Wolf) was the youngest of 3 children: Brother Jen (8 years older than Landar/Lone Wolf) died at the age of 14 drowning Sister Kari(5 years older than Jen and 13 years older than Landar/Lone Wolf) Location: Dage (Village)
I don't know the average age in Sommerlund but the mother was 45 years old when she had Landar/Lone Wolf so I doubt she was alive in book 1 (45+15 years) but maybe (unsure how old Landar was in book one.. maybe he was younger than 15.. 12 or alike? forgot)

Just to say thank you for all these responses. It feels a little odd to learn Lone Wolf's name when I had always imagined it being myself, but it totally makes sense from a roleplay point of view :-)

I know it says they died, but I do love the idea that Kari survived and had a family, and imagined her brother died in the attack on the monastery, and the whole family just has no idea they are related to Sommerlund's biggest hero lol.

I always thought lone wolf was born in 5036. His family is mentioned that one time in lw 11, and his brother was mentioned again in lw16.

In Eclipse of the Kai page 29 it reads, The older boy dragged himself closer and fell upon the storgh. He turned to look at Landar as the great teeth of the beast clamped down on his shoulder and, with great calmness, said "Go now, Landar. Run all the way home." Landar picked up the branch that Jen had been brandishing and beat it with futility on the horned back of the storgh. The creature paid him no attention, but set about clinically devouring the child's older brother. So maybe in some lore he drowned but at least in Legends of Lone Wolf he was eaten alive
