Book VII: Castle Death
I have mixed feelings about Castle Death. It can appear to be quite brutal from the very first few paragraphs, pushing the character on in a series of rather tight situations until you reach the castle. There are some memorable moments (watching the giant hand crushing the adventurer you escaped with was one of them), but ultimately you will have to enter their maze and follow what is a fairly linear progression to the end. Pace is set well in the beginning, but unlike in Book V, there is very little reward for remaining uncaptured. Once in the maze, you lose your weapons, but your backpack items and special items will give you the edge in combat, and your Magnakai skills will help avoid a combat with a certain hand. I do like that the final baddie does not need to be killed in order to succeed in your mission.
Continuing from Book VI, virtually all characters will make it through this adventure. One of the easier books when equipped with the right skills.
