1) When you reach the Mentora rank in the Magnakai series, if you have Weaponmastery, the Improved Disciplines section says: "When using a bow or thrown weapon and instructed to pick a number from the Random Number Table, add 2 to the number picked if you are a Mentora with the Magnakai Discipline of Weaponmastery." Now, in regards to the bow, is this on top of the 3 bonus points you get if you pick it as a mastered weapon, bringing the total to 5? Can the Silver Bow of Duadon be added to that for a staggering 8 points? If so, you'll likely never miss a shot for the rest of the series. Assuming all of this is okay, logically you could keep the +8 for the entire Grand Master series, too. Loyalty bonuses rock. 2) Is it considered "legal" to re-roll your CS score once you get to the Grand Master series, assuming you've completed all the books up to that point? Even with a high initial roll and all the Lore-Circles gained (24 max), your initial stats won't measure up to what you can roll in the GM series. I can only assume that you've become even more of a combat badass during your training with the first GM disciplines, so the much higher CS is a reflection of that. I couldn't imagine surviving any of the GM books without doing that, since the enemies' CS are consistently so friggin' high. Endurance would be different, since with all the Lore-Circles, you could potentially have an EP of 40 by the time you start the GM series, assuming your initial roll was a 9. But if you re-roll one stat, shouldn't you re-roll the other? Please enlighten me.

1) Yes
2) I always added 10 to my CS and EP scores from the Magna/Kai books. The very first time I rolled a die to determine my score for Fire On The Water (never was able to buy FftD), I got 16 CS and 24 EP. I've stuck with that through many LW incarnations; one of the few times I stayed faithful to the spirit of the rules
BUT...the Grand Master series is demonstrably different to the first 12 books. The limitations on carrying items over from the previous books tells us this. I think you can re-roll with confidence

1. Yup, I've always assumed that I can get a +8 bonus with the bow, and the additional Weaponmastery bonus.
2. I've never rerolled my skills. Yes, you can gain an advantage if you reroll a new character, but in my view, this balances out because of all the extra skills and special items you can get in Books 1-5. So I've never rerolled.

Seems pretty clear to me: +3 for the SBoD, +3 Weaponsmastery, +2 for Tutelaries. Once again, loyalty bonus carries it to the GM series.
Again, Ghost Bear and I are in total agreement. If you manage to roll badly enough to get the coveted Kagonite Chainmail, can secure the Silver Helm, acquire the Silver Bracers, and bring along the Sommerswerd, we're talking about a bonus of about 15 points to your CS from special items alone! That's far more than you can get by rolling a D10 and adding 25, nevermind the "loyalty bonuses" from Psi-surge/Mindblast, Lore Circles, Weaponmastery, etc. I never re-roll either.

The Silver Bracers are a special item that add +2 to your CS and +1 to your EP. They are very handy, as you can carry them over to the Grand Master series. If you are looking for them, try in the following place: ***WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD! DO NOT READ ON IF YOU WANT TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!***
The Silver Bracers are in Book 12, and you need the Curing Discipline to get them. You can get them from the captain after the battle with the Xargath.

On the subject of Silver Bracers, I know this is skating close to heresy, but I think the only reason they are banned from most of the early Grand Master books is because Joe Dever forgot to put them on the list! After all there is absolutely no explanation as to why Lone Wolf would leave them sitting at home, considering they pass on a useful bonus. It's even less logical than leaving the Sommerswerd behind for half the Maganakai quest. If other players are "cheating" by substituting the Bronin Vest for the virtually unobtainable yet identical Kagonite Chainmail, continued use of the Bracers seems equally justifiable. After all, common sense states Lone Wolf would continue to wear the best armour he owned. Or did our hero spend the years between books 12 and 13 sitting in the Skyrider taproom drinking Bor Brew, and now has such a big beer gut that his old clothes no longer fit?

On the subject of Silver Bracers, I know this is skating close to heresy, but I think the only reason they are banned from most of the early Grand Master books is because Joe Dever forgot to put them on the list! No, I'm certain it comes down to carrying capacity. According to The Plague-lords of Ruel, you can bring 10 Special Items (the Silver Bracers included) into the Grand Master series. The next three titles drop this to eight items, leaving off Silver Bracers and Korlinium Scabbard. Since you can only carry 12 Special Items, taking all 10 into the Grand Master series is somewhat problematic, especially when there are required Special Items gained in certain of the books, the Black Talisman, for example, which you must discard in favour of should you be carrying the maximum number of Special Items. It would seem silly to discard your Silver Bracers in favour of a Talisman, but the rules would force you to do just that. Interestingly, on page 6 of Newsletter 14, the preview of Plague-lords makes no mention of either the Silver Bracers or the Korlinium Scabbard. So Joe obviously originally intended for neither item to be brought into the Grand Master series--at least from the start of the series, anyway. My guess is that readers' response brought both items to light and he decided to permit them to be brought into the series through fan-pressure. But after the first book, he dropped them to free up Special Item slots. This ceases to be a direct problem after The Legacy of Vashna, for reasons and spoilers I won't go into here. Actually, I don't really consider that cheating; the Bronin Vest really should be on the list of permissable Special Items. Well, I can only speak for myself, but . . .

Well, obviously the latter isn't true, since he was still in good shape on the cover of #13. My guess is he lost them to Banedon and Nolrim gambling against them in the Skyrider taproom after drinking all that Bor Brew. Banedon: You sure you want to keep playing, Lone Wolf? Your purse is almost empty. Lone Wolf (slurring): I'the got plenthy more wher that came frommm! (hiccup) And if you don' bleave me, I'll proof it! I wager my shiny vetht that I'll drink yer firtht mate under the table, I will! Nolrim: Heh! I could use me a nice, shiny Bronin Vest like that, I could. Yer on!

he was still in good shape on the cover of #13. You've never heard of artistic license? Or perhaps Lone Wolf traded his Kai tunic for a Kai truss? Coming soon... Lone Wolf: The Movie, starring William Shatner!
