Hi I'm new to the forum!
Been a few years since I read any Lone Wolf books and I cant wait to start the adventure books but I'm having problems down loading the books and the action sheets and base file that connects them all.
There down loaded as a zip file but when my pc says I've unzipped them they remain 'zipped' and in a format that I cant use.
Any ideas how I could get around this?

Hi Conan Welcome to the forums. A couple of things: Are you sure you are downloading the ZIP file not the TAR.BZ2 file? They both contain the same information, but one uses a slightly better (though more exotic) compressor, so you only need to download one or the other for each book. Also, if your unarchiver is quite old, it might not be able to decode more recent ZIP files. If you visit the Utilities Page of Project Aon, there are links to free software that can unarchive the most recent ZIP and TAR files. I hope this helps. If you are still having problems, feel free to ask again for help.

Didn't there used to be a program for the front end so you could read the books offline like you were online? I'm confused as I cant figure out how to get the book to work. What am I forgetting?

hmm.. i'm still having problems-- i downloaded one of the Free Zip software to help, but it still doesn't do anything besides let me view a bunch of ms-dos code.. is it supposed to automatically cue to Word, or Adobe-Acrobat (or is there another viewing program)? am I going about it the wrong way?

Hi Hypestyle
Sounds like you're going about it the wrong way indeed! The ZIP download is an archive--over four hundred files are squashed together into one file for ease of download. Once downloaded, the ZIP file needs to be "unzipped", that is to say, it needs to be un-squashed back to 400+ files. That's what FreeZIP does.
If you load FreeZIP and then use it to open a downloaded ZIP file, it should show you a list of all the files. Then tell it to Unzip/Extract all the files to the "Lone Wolf" folder that you need to create. It should then place 400ish files inside your "Lone Wolf" folder as well as creating the necessary directory structure for everything to work.
Basically, what you will have on your computer when you unzip one of these files is part of a website. This means you can view the Project Aon books as a website from your own computer without needing to go online or contact our website.
Load the file named index.html in the "Lone Wolf" folder into your web browser (double-clicking the file shoudl automatically load it in your browser) and you can select which book you want to play, though you need to download each of the books separately.
When you Unzip subsequent books, you will be told that some files already exist--ignore this and overwrite them. It won't cause any problems.
Hope it helps!
