Hi, first off as a newbie I'd like to thank the crew of Project Aon for their efforts in putting up the books. That and to thank Joe Dever for giving the permission to put them out.
With that in mind, I'm just curious why Project Aon uses the html and etc. format that it does rather than PDF files like Home of the Underdogs does? The PDF scans are easier to flip through and if I recall correctly a lot less memory consumptive (I could be wrong).
Man going through the Underdogs gamebooks section was a blast from the past especially reading the old Zork, Way of the Tiger and Dragon Warrior material.

The reason we use webpages as standard is that while many persons do not like PDF or trust PDF software, everyone online with a computer has a web browser. PDF documents are also easier to pirate. Paul Barnett (aka John Grant) used to sell PDFs of the Legends of Lone Wolf documents, but stopped when someone pirated them and started selling multiple copies of each file on Ebay. So we will continue to make the books available as HTML. That said, it has always been our intention to put the books online as PDF documents as well as in HTML format. The source for each book is stored as an XML document that can be transformed into several formats, including HTML and, via several intermediate stages, PDF. If I remember correctly, someone was investigating how to simplify the process, but that is an ongoing project. Hopefully, once we have the books re-edited to fix all the reported issues in Books 1-17, someone will be able to find time to work on converting the books to PDF. Hope it answers your questions! HotU almost always just uses image scans of the text of the books, which means they have a faster turnaround, but a lower quality product. Since we work directly with OCRed text, how we have a versatility in how we present each book. [And if you're interested in gamebooks, you might want to visit my website for some PDFs of some rather rare stuff. ]

It's also easier to read than a PDF.

Don't mind that it is HTML rather than PDF:s, easy to browse and find the right sections and all, but I dislike the graphical profile that Project Aon has chosen to present the books in. Not for any good reason you see, I just dislike it.
