Plus the spear doesn't kill Helgasts, remember what happens when you pull it out. I don't think the creature would have survived (surdied ?) being nailed with the sw. I'm pretty sure you can stay behind in Tarnalin and keep poking the Helghast with the spear until the creature turns to dust. Those useless Szalls just wouldn't finish the job in the Wildlands.

About the magic spear: Just checked that, and Vonotar and Cadak are right. When you walk through Tarnalin, you either land at section 38 or 338; in either case, you can indeed kill the Helghast with the spear and keep it afterwards. (The spear, not the Helghast. ) Here are the Project Aon links: www.projectaon.org/xhtml/lw/02fotw/sect38.htmwww.projectaon.org/xhtml/lw/02fotw/sect338.htmAnd for those intent on cross-examining the whole thing, you enter Tarnalin here: www.projectaon.org/xhtml/lw/02fotw/sect299.htmWell, if three black-hearted wielders of magic cannot convince you, you can always ask a fourth. Hey, Agarash! ... Hm, doesn't seem to have registered as forum user yet. Oh, well. ;D The Wytch-King

He can't take up much more space than, say, 10 GC.

Actually, I just found a place in book 14 where they prompt for it against a Helghast along with Helshezag and the DoV. No magic spear though. . . Well spotted! And in LW8, you can swap the Mace for the Grey Crystal Ring!

Use some of them to buy the horse in LW6! Arise, General Altan! Oh, if only there had been a Black Crystal Cube with which to explode him. "Hey, Altan, here you go!" "Gee, thanks!" Time passes. Altan is now an old man with a long white beard, sitting at a desk and writing. "Hey, why's my paperweight vibrating?" Although the prospect of Altan just showing up in Holmgard and demanding to lead troops is entertaining in itself. "Ulnar, I demand a regiment of Border Rangers!" "Um, we don't have any idea who you are. So, the answer is no." "Aha! You didn't expect me to have the Badge of Rank!" (Ulnar gasps) "Damn! Well, D'Val, get this man some troops . . ."

You know, I never thought of picking up deadly items to hand over to others as a gift or payment. Maybe I should change my ID from Relenoir to Mr. Nice Guy. Why can't I be that devious?

Well, as far as I can remember, the Black Crystal Cubes don't last long enough for you to trade them for anything. As for other harmful items, Kai and Ishir probably wouldn't look too favorably upon you if you did that. It's more along the lines of what my master, Naar, would do.

I don't know; they sure do look the other way on corpse looting and everything. Not to mention that you could just steal the same horse and they don't seem to mind.

Well, we asked, and the Masters of Darkness responded! From the god who brought you Cadak, Vonotar, and the Wytch-King, I proudly present to you. . .[shadow=red,left,300]Agarash the Dammed![/shadow] *crowd goes wild with applause* Didn't we just post in a recent thread something about "where is Agarash?" Welcome aboard!!! ;D Please check all skulls, runes, and Doomstones at the door. . .

Thank you, Relenoir, for that mahvelous introduction and enthusiastic welcome. I saw the thread you're referring to, and that's when I decided to be Agarash. As for the skulls and runes, I'll be glad to check those, but the Doomstones are staying right here...*evil chuckle*
By the way, congratulations on that "Dammed;" it's a clever way of getting around the censorship. Agarash the Darned just doesn't sound menacing: "Oh, I'm Agarash, and I've been darned all to heck! Whatever shall I do?" Now that I think of it, though, Agarash the Darned could be my lesser-known, less evil brother - the white sheep of the family, if you will. We never talk about him; that law-abiding, upstanding do-gooder is a disgrace to the entire family. Or something. Anyway, we now return you to your regularly scheduled nefarious deeds.
