I'm not sure if this came up here, but some time ago when I was on the mailing list, I mentioned it. I don't have the unabridged UK editions of the later books, only the abridged US ones. Sometimes errors are found in the books, and these mistakes are corrected in the Project Aon internet editions. The location of these mistakes will be in different places for books 13-20, depending on which edition you have. If people would find it helpful, I'd be willing to take a list of mistakes from the UK books (maybe with some context to help), find them in the US books, and send back a list of corrections needed to the US books. I have posted this to our maillist too. What ambition level are you thinking of - just the gameplay and storyline affecting mistakes I assume, not our grammatical nitpicking? I guess you also want to cover the mistakes introduced by the US editors?

Yes, I was thinking mainly of the gameplay mistakes, primarily incorrect section number links, but I'll try to cover anything that's big enough to mess up the story/game. If there's a serious interest in the grammatical stuff, I can try to do that, but as that doesn't really affect the game itself, I'm inclined to let them go. I don't know how any mistakes the US editors made are being handled, but I can try to help out with those, sure.

Sorry guys - I know I'm a newbie here and that this is an old thread but I have a couple of suggestions to the process that could probably *really* help. 1. NOOooOooo! You don't have to bend the spines of the books!! Especially not the New Order ones!! This is what pen scanners were designed for... www.scanningpens.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=3&products_id=15They aren't cheap but as a New Order book can get £80-120 on eBay, it even works out financially better than wrecking your book! Personally I'd rather buy one of these for Project Aon myself than have anyone destroy their copy of any LW book (NO or not). 2. A redundant data entry system would exponentially reduce the time taken to proof-read a book at the same time as dramatically reducing the error rate. This is the same idea that all big data entry corporations have used for transcribing any data into a computer. What I mean is this: 1. Scan the page as normal, use an OCR package (again as normal) and then stop. 2. Do this again. 3. Do a file comparison on the output text using some utility or other (or by diff if you're sensible and using Linux ;D). I can really highly recommend Beyond Compare www.scootersoftware.com/download.php . I guarantee that this technique will eliminate 90%+ of all the errors introduced by the scanning / OCR process. It would be particularly effective if the repeat step could be done using a different copy, a different scanner, different OCR software etc. I have my own personal copy of BeyComp, so if folk want to start sending me OCR text to compare I'd be happy to do so. 3. Last but not least how about using embedded links in PDFs (as opposed to XHTML)? This would also have the advantages of preserving the character and look of the printed page as well as just having to scan the pages once whilst also eliminating the proofreading step? Once again, I'm sorry for butting in and I hope you'll forgive the length of this post.

Hello. I've made a simple converter for Lone Wolf books to fb2 and epub formats (books in mobi format, that I found there are not good for my reader). If someone need books in that format, I can send them to be upload on that site For example, I uploaded "Flight from the Dark" there www.4shared.com/office/qt78zvd-/01fftd.html

Hi volt,
One quick point here is that the AON license PROHIBITS hosting of any content on other websites. I regret that we will have to ask you to take the book down from your site. We already have a method for doing the conversions automatically, and we are working on further incorporating this into the build process (a few minor formatting hiccups along the way!) We would value your help with that process, so please let us know if you are interested. Calibre is the software we use. Thank you James

Some suggestions for a multi-page edition for old smart phones with small screens: 1. Reduce the width of the graphic at the top of every page to prevent horizontal scrolling. 2. Liquid HTML instead static HTML, so that the text flows to use the maximum size of the screen - no extra whitespace. 3. Remove the border images, which in column-like modes puts them below one another.
A suggestion for all editions: Change the background color slightly for text that's the same as in previous books on pages like title, acknowledgements, story so far, game rules, etc. This way players of earlier books won't miss slight changes by skipping what looks the the exact same stuff from previous books.

I'm not sure where to post this. I LOVE the old statskeeper. I've been using it for several years (even when IE had problems with it). In fact, I love it so much I stayed up last night and added full functionality for the New Order series.
I will be testing my changes through today.
If Project Aon is interested, I can upload the modified files to some location and you might like to incorporate those into the old StatsKeeper download. Do let me know.
May Kai and Ishir watch over you.

Do let me know if interested.

Yes, if you've got it working correctly, it would be OK to provide a working version. I've sent you a PM for how to contact me.
Cheers!
