I've uploaded a program that fulfills the same role as StatsKeeper but with some distinct advantages such as being able to save to a local file. This program is provided by Project Aon volunteer Seth Turner. You can download the program from my directory at the following address: www.projectaon.org/staff/jonathan/SetupLWRPG.zipThat zip file contains the setup executable (this is a windows-only program). We need Beta Testers. If you can help us out, please use this forum to provide feedback. Thanks as always for your help. -- Jon Edit: Replaced broken link with a working one.--Simon

I think it's a very nice project.
As I cannot get involved in your project (no enough spare time), I can only give you the first comment, after trying your experiment : a window resize option will be a nice improvement !
Anyway, thanks for your work. I really appreciate it !

Ditto to the above post about resizing the window! It isn't an opinion, it's a fact! Additionally, I'm not sure whether the Combat Results Table is accurate. I started afresh with a new character (CS 18 EP 26) and made it through the easier combats, using my Healing Discipline to get +1EP per non-combat section. All well and good. Then I entered into combat with the Gourgaz (CS 20 EP 30) and it slaughtered me. I was a Combat Ratio -2, EP 21, rolled a 0, and got automatically killed, which seems a bit harsh. Additionally, the program doesn't seem to like my savegame. When I select the file from the list, I get "Runtime Error 53: File not found". Grand Pathsmanship appears to be missing from the list of Grand Master Disciplines. That's all for now.

I loke the overall look of the program, and it's ease of use. However, it does need to be resizeable.
Other than that one problem, I've not been able to test any further. I will take it to work tonight on my laptop and play around with it.
I do like it more than the stats keeper system though. So thats a giant plus.

Yes I do, when the day is going good. Most the time it is.. other than that.. I'm an EMT. therefore, I get to deal with lots of blood, guts, and urin.
Other than that.
Was playing around tonight and found one drastic thing. I can save my character just fine, but it will not load said character(s).
I get a runtime error - 52 or something like that. Then it crashes the program.
Some other things you might think about.. A button like stats keeper to increase/decrease gold, meals.
I love the combat setup. Like the way you have every section planed out from equipment bonuses and stuff, makes it a ton easier. However, the current EP spot on the stats page should be retroactive. If your Wound points go down on the combat page, your wound points should decrease to a like ammount in that spot. This way you do not have to change the number when going back to the stats page from combat.
The graphical area should be much larger than the stats area (once again an expanding window issue)
An Idea for the Kai Rank area, Make it an expanding list. Then you only have to choose your rank, and not type it in.
A graphical plus - Number each of the backpack slots and special item slots. I know it's nothing at all, but it makes it look a little more finished that just blank spaces.
Thats all I got for now, I will go through and do some combat later tonight (at work once again) to test the combat chart accuracy.
One question, does the combat system use the expanded chart?

First of all, thanks for the program. I'm basically working on the same idea (a java-based expanded statskeeper), and my current result doesn't look anywhere near as nice Obviously, I would give the same advice as other posters (ie : larger view area, +/- rollers for EP at least, ...). However, it seems to me the combat system is pretty much broken. I gave it several tries, pitting a top-of-my-head Lone Wolf (21/30) against an Evil Pokemon (18/60) (but then, aren't they all ...). This is basically an easy fight : in the 3/4 column, damage ratio is over 5.5 (ie : enemy takes on average 5.5x the damage it deals LW). The Pokemon having only twice the EP, it should be neatly hung by its pokeballs. Problem is, I get creamed each time ! Within only 1 round sometimes. Further testing suggests that maybe you used enemy EP in place of enemy CS (18/60 Pokemon gets instant kills, which it shouldn't, whereas 18/20 Digimon doesn't). Moreover, you should review your code for instant kills, as I got once a double instant kill (both opponents dying from 30+ EP), which is not possible.

WOW!!!
You guys have given me some GREAT feed back. I will work very hard to incorperate all of your ideas.
It will be a little while before I can make a new version as there has been some drastic changes in my life recently. But you have my word, I will do what I can, when I can to improve the program.
Please keep the ideas coming =)

The GrandMaster discipline list is missing pathmanship, I'm not sure if that's already been said. If healing and curing are both selected, the healing button will increase health by 2 (instead of just 1.)
What if would find totally awesome is a way to keep track of points specifically lost in combat, so I can heal only those.

Hi I tried the program, and it worked well with three exceptions.
1. Everytime I load a savegame I have to manually write the three letters after the dot (.lws) or else the game wont load.
2. When doing combat, Lone Wolf dies everytime the result in the combat table should have been 0 (Very frustrating).
3. The windows need resizing
Other than that I think the program is great. Hope you still work on it.
