Besides which, you're forgetting something about us good guys - we cheat like buggery!Noted that already when I glanced over your brag sheet a few posts ago ... More ranks and disciplines than any other New Order Grand Master before you, hm?
No matter. If you are absolutely certain that you want to come and get me now, even though you haven't played the finale of War of the Wizards so far, here you go:
***Spoiler for Grey Star 4!***
Stealthily you enter a wide, round hall cloaked in shadow. At one end of the hall stands a throne carved from stone; you have reached the throne room of the ruler of Shadaki! Your mastery of Pathmanship, Assimilance and Kai-Screen has allowed you to infiltrate the palace without raising any alarm. You weren‘t worried about the guards - you have yet to meet a guard sharp enough to spot you when you don‘t want to be seen. But as it seems, the arcane powers of even the ruler of this realm are not powerful enough to unravel the shadows that veil you. Then again, you are a Kai Grand Master without equal, so what chance did he have, after all?
You glance around the hall. According to your information, this is the place where the portal to the unseen sanctum of Shasarak the Wytch-king is hidden. As soon as you manage to open it, the cruel sorcerer will meet his end on your blade ... Quickly you set down your backpack and rummage through it. The three objects the ancient tome spoke of are still there and undamaged. A small wonder, considering the long time you have carried them around without ever suspecting their true purpose!
After carefully setting down the Silver Box of Count Conundrum on exactly the spot the tome had detailed, you open it. Then you place the Hourglass in it after making sure the lower end is empty of sand. Eagerly you wait, watching the sand fall, until only a few heartbeats of sand are left. With a quick but steady hand you close the box, rise to a standing position and blow the Brass Whistle seven times.
Nothing happens. Nervously you glance over your shoulder; dumb as they might be, the guards must have heard that! Then, a low crackle, as if wood catches flame, calls your attention back to the empty spot in front of you. But it is empty no longer; while you watch, flames rise out of nowhere to form a blazing wall - the portal to Shasarak‘s hideout!
Calling upon your Grand Nexus to withstand the heat of the portal, you draw KaiStar, your trusty blade, and step unhesitatingly into the fiery wall. Flames snake out and wreathe themselves around you, merely a loving caress to a Kai Grand Master. Your Magnakai discipline of Divination screams a warning to you when you enter the portal: Evil of a magnitude you have never encountered before looms ahead! For just a split second you wonder if maybe you should retreat, but your confidence and courage urge you onward. You have never suffered a creature of darkness to live, and you are loath to make an exception here. Erecting a mental fortress to protect your mind and soul from the emanations of evil, you take another step.
Sharpened by Grand Huntmastery, your senses alert you to a shadow darting past you. With the speed of thought your blade flicks out, but it glances off after striking something hard. Your Kai senses still detect that great evil ahead; it must have been a hallucination, a trick of the flames to divert you. The hard surface must have been the stone wall of the throne room. No matter, your prey awaits.
One more step, and you have entered a forboding place of shadow and flame. Your gaze falls upon a gargantuan body; glowing scales cover huge shoulders, and a massive head rests upon clawed feet. Slowly, almost lazily, two slanted eyes open, as if awakening from a deep slumber. Pools of deepest darkness are revealed and their hypnotic stare freezes you in your tracks. A slithering, deathly voice resounds in your ears. “Who are you, mortal, and where is that accursed Shasarak?”
Before you can even decide whether to speak or stubbornly refuse, a powerful mind probes your thoughts, sweeping aside your most powerful mental protections as if they were nothing more than dry leaves before a storm ... Then the voice screams in inhumane anger. “Shasarak, you sneaky, traitorous bastard! How dare you rob this chance at freedom from me!!”
You fall to your knees before the fury of that entity before you, clutching your ears in a feeble attempt to protect them. It seems like hours before the huge creature calms down somewhat. Again it‘s gaze falls upon you. “So you are Storm Dancer, my new companion in eternal dammation. Know then that I am Agarash the Dammed, Demon lord of Darkness. You are nothing to me, a mere gnat beneath contempt. ... Can you play Samor?"
On the other side of the portal, the ghastly figure of Shasarak, Wytch-king of Shadaki, stands before the hellish portal. His mocking laughter echoes through the shadowed hall when he raises his claw-like hands in arcane gestures. Then the blazing flames die down, and the portal closes again. “Free at last,” he whispers. “Thank you, little Kai lord. I won‘t forget that.” Then he chuckles malevolently and turns away.
Your mission, though alas not your life, ends here. Forever trapped in Agarash‘s realm of eternal torment, the only ways to pass the time will probably be Samor games with Agarash and the DSL access to the Project Aon forum that mysteriously exists here ...
***End of Spoiler***
Hope you enjoyed it,
Thy Wytch-King
P.S.: Nice link you gave there. Have to study that! *g*
