Does anyone else have this yet? If so, were you kind of puzzled that it didn't have a map of the Darklands in it? And for those that don't have it, no Darklord looks like that bat-winged bucket-head Darklord on TMoD, UK edition. KL

I have it. I'm a little puzzled about no map, though the map of Helgedad is nice.

I happened to find it in a shop for sale today! ;D Strange that is lists 19 Darklords; I though 2 died prior to Zagarna's accession to the throne of Helgedad? Would have liked to have seen stats and an illustration for Vashna as well. Also, the names of the regions of the Darklands seem different to the ones given in the gamebooks (Yr-Naoga = Naogizaga?). Odd. The text does seem to indicate that there should be a map in there. Maybe one will be put up on the Mongoose site for personal printing? Here's to hoping, anyway!

Only one Darklord was slain prior to the rise of Zagarna as far as I know.

Now I knew I'd read that Gnaag killed some as well! Looks like the number quoted in Newsletter 6 is wrong, or that the other Darklords were restored to life in some way? I'm confused. The 1987 Special actually ties in with the Mongoose Darklands supplement by intimating that, by MS5050, there were 19 active Darklords, so I guess Mongoose can't be blamed for that. I actually checked my original scans of the Newsletters to make sure I hadn't made a stupid mistake, but it definitely says 'sixteen'. History in the re-writing.

What? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Mental note of things to ask Joe Dever should I ever meet him: Who's the freaking winged Darklord supposed to be? All is revealed - the bat-winged creature is the "Mind Reaper" that Gnaag summons to face Lone Wolf in Helgedad before the kai scum is given the choice to slay Gnaag with the Sommerswerd, Helshazag or using my Dagger. My reasons are that TMoD's description of the Mind Reaper matches the cover artwork and there is also the fly-like image on the front cover (middle), which Lone Wolf viewed for the first time escaping from the monks in Tharro (TJoH) when Gnaag tried to contact his Helghast. Only problem is I can't confirm who the image on the left of the cover is meant to represent (don't have my copy of Darklands yet), but I suppose it is likely to be another creature Gnaag can summon from the Plane of Darkness, as I remeber noting that the Darklords have the ability to summon these astral creatures from the Plane of Darkness (can't rember the source).

Although that seems like a good theory, I don't think that it is correct. This same picture is shown in the Magnamund Companion on the page showing most of the well-known Darklords. This leads me to believe that it is also a Darklord, especially since it wears a helmet and has no teeth visible. Also, the image on the left side of the cover is Darklord Kraagenskul, of that I'm pretty sure. For more about this same discussion of who the mystery Darklord is check this: projectaon.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1082035220thread.

Darn – I’m sorry all is NOT revealed then. Following Relenoir’s comments above I am happy to accept I’m wrong – but I’m not going to give up without a fight. There is just something not quite right about this so am going to look more into this. Thanks for passing on the details of the other post – when I posted my theory I’m sorry but I wasn’t aware of this topic already being discussed. However, I am happy to finally know who the dude on the left is (Darklord Kraagenskul). Forgot about that big Darklord picture in MC - will blow the dust of my copy and have a look this weekend. Thanks Relenoir Vashna (who’s still anxiously waiting by the front door for the postie to deliver Darklands!!!).

Actually, Lone Wolf kills five Darklords. Zagarna (FotW), Haakon (SotS) and Taktaal, Kraagenskul and Gnaag (tMoD). NS. Edit: Of course, that's not including destroying ALL the Darklords and their armies at the end of tMod!

@ Vashna: No problem, your welcome, and thanks for the help! @ North Star: (the person, not the tavern! ) Good point, 17 out of the 20 isn't a bad accomplishment!
