Lately I was pondering about a new Magnamund campaign. Browsing through my notes about the world and it's rich history, I realized that it would be a great idea to let the players experience key moments in Magnamund history first hand.
Though I know that the mongoose Lone Wolf forum might be more responsive to this issue, I have decided to try my luck here. The reason is, that I think that along the way of realizing my campaign idea, it will take some profound knowledge of the inner workings of Magnamund.
Now I see two different paths, the whole thing could go:
1. Travelling backwards in time.
The player characters become agents of a mysterious stranger. They are sent backwards in time to make sure, that certain historical "facts" really happen. While travelling the past, their spirits inhabit the bodies of recently killed people or other convenient bodies. Whenever they screw it up, they get hurled back to their own time, where they will experience the results of their failure.
2. Travelling forwards in time
The player characters are immortal beings that get reincarnated again and again. All through history, they suddenly find themselves in the mids of action. Led by powerful visions they are saving the day today and experiencing utter defeat the next.
Well, this is just a rough sketch about what I have on my mind.
What's your opinion about that idea? Would you like to play in such a campaign? Which path would you prefer?
I was thinking about using the true20 rules, but right now I have the feeling, that a level based rpg system wouldn't fit into that kind of campaign. An suggestions?
Greetings,

P.S. I just realized that some time travelling has allready been done: towerofthesun.com/lwrpol/viewforum.php?f=20 Ill try to find out more about it!
