Other than Alyss and Qinefer (Still don't understand why people won't spell it out), which of the following caracters are John Grant's and *not* Joe's?
Storm Hawk Loren Petra Carag Cloud Maker
Hmm...that's all I can think of. Anybody have any more?

Yeah, what was up with that Cloud Maker business? "I'm Lone Wolf, the last of the Kai, but here's another one, even if he's not that good."

All of them bar Storm Hawk.
Except I've never heard of Loren before. Who's she?

Storm Hawk
His name appears in the gamebooks, here and there.
Loren
Well, in "Flight from the dark" Banedon says something about a Brotherood mage assassinated by Vonotar.
Petra
I didn't read any Legends book with her, but I'm quite sure she never appears in any of Joe Dever's books.
Carag
John Grant's invention.
Cloud Maker
According to the gamebooks, the innkeeper of Ragadorn is just an innkeeper, not a Kai Lord. Usually, characters who appear in both the gamebooks and the novels have a different personality, so i'm not sure we can consider them the same character.

Storm Hawk His name appears in the gamebooks, here and there. I know he gets a mention in book 18 (Dawn of the Dragons) when LW goes to look for the Shadow Gate, but where else does he appear? And yes, "LW isn't really the last of the Kai after all" is lamer than lame because it screws with the entire premise of the story. Qinefer doesn't get spelt out on the forums because she's not the most popular character round here. I've only read Legends 1 and 2 in which she's bearable, but apparently gets a lot worse.

He's Lone Wolf's former tutor, and gets mentioned a few times. One example is in Legacy of Vashna, where we find out that Lone Wolf's horse, Storm, is named after him.

Who's she? -Ss He threatened to turn Vonotar in for his research into right-hand path magic and Vonotar used said research to explode his heart. Usually, characters who appear in both the gamebooks and the novels have a different personality, so i'm not sure we can consider them the same character. The innkeeper in Ragadorn in the gamebooks is a rude bastard, too. But at least you kick over his mopping bucket.

Other than Alyss and Qinefer (Still don't understand why people won't spell it out) For the same reason people might avoid spelling out other insulting and offensive words: it is inappropriate in a forum where kiddies might be present!

For the same reason people might avoid spelling out other insulting and offensive words: it is inappropriate in a forum where kiddies might be present! And besides that, we refer to her as She-who-must-not-be-named. How can we dignify her with a name when she is not to be named! ~Relenoir, posing a paradox.

Apart from thirding Outspaced and seconding Relenoir ;D, I just wanted to add that Storm Hawk is probably not one of Joe Dever's characters, even though he is mentioned in the gamebooks. I think he was included for the same reason Alyss was (in the later gamebooks) - a nod to the Legends series.
I'd (almost) bet his first appearance in the Legends preceded his first mention in the gamebooks - as per year/date of publication, I mean.

You're correct when you say that the first mention of Storm Hawk in Legends occured before the first mention in the LW series I think.
Having not read the Legends, I'm assuming Storm Hawk first appears in one of the first two books, which were released on 1st of June, 1989, while the first instance I can find of him in the LW series is in Legacy of Vashna, released sometime in early 1992 I believe.
But we don't know for certain that John Grant didn't get the name from Joe Dever's notes on the Lone Wolf series.

True enough! Joe Dever's fabled notes are indeed a wild card - the new Lone Wolf Rpg demonstrated that aptly enough, on occasion! Of course, that might mean that any of Grant/Barnett's characters could be based on these notes ... The Wytch-King

Of course, that might mean that any of Grant/Barnett's characters could be based on these notes ... Well, this excerpt of an old interview with John Grant reassures us: Q: There is a lot in the novels which is not in the gamebooks, most notably the characters. Are some of the characters your own creations? A: Alyss is entirely mine, and has appeared in other novels and some short stories. Alyss is integral to Albion and The World; Thog the Mighty is mine too. He makes an appearance in The World; He makes brief appearances in other works of mine. Q****** makes off-stage appearances in the The World. Viveka, too, is essentially mine: she has a bit part in one of Joe's gamebooks, but it was me who built her up. Petra is entirely mine. (From "The Kai Monastery" website) BTW, welcome back to the forum, Wytch-King.
