Well, this excerpt of an old interview with John Grant reassures us: Q: There is a lot in the novels which is not in the gamebooks, most notably the characters. Are some of the characters your own creations? A: Alyss is entirely mine, and has appeared in other novels and some short stories. Alyss is integral to Albion and The World; Thog the Mighty is mine too. He makes an appearance in The World; He makes brief appearances in other works of mine. Q****** makes off-stage appearances in the The World. Viveka, too, is essentially mine: she has a bit part in one of Joe's gamebooks, but it was me who built her up. Petra is entirely mine. (From "The Kai Monastery" website) BTW, welcome back to the forum, Wytch-King. Viveka belongs to John Grant? She's in book 2, I think the legend books came out later, am I right? I remeber the first tim I played Fire on water i thought she was the traitor, then i killed her and discovered she was innocent...I remained sad for days ;D I find no sense in saying: he's belong to me, she's belong to him...

Well he did develop her considerably more than was alluded to in the gamebook, so in a way, she is.

Actually, I thought she was the traitor as well when I first played...I guess I didn't get the hint that the priest came over from Sommerlund...

Me too I went for the girl the first time I played. Probably because, well, she was the only girl there and I found it strange for a girl to be a mercenary. I thought that girls weren't strong enough to do that (I was young at that time), so I thought that it was a man in disguise! ;D

I had to take out the priest--that shifty guy only ever looked at me with one eye. Never trust someone who always is looking at you with one eye when you look at them. KL

KL Never thought of taking this detail in consideration, but you are right of course. It took me at least 4 tries before I could figure out that the priest was the bad guy. And it took another 2 years to find out that the answer to that problem was right under my nose from the beginning, in the picture that goes with the section where you have to decide who you will attack. What a shame...

I killed her for the first time I played FOTW (book 2). My friends told me she carries a huge amount of money (He's a spoiler!) so I attack her for the sake of the money ;D . (you know how money is important in this particular book!) Oh no...Does that make me a bad guy?......I did the wrong thing although I've suspected Parsion in the first place. He does look suspicious though

Talk about pathetic, I think I killed Halvorc the first time through, and felt rather ridiculous for it. The poor guy wasn't even capable of putting up a fight! Later on I figured out the clue in the picture, but KaiLord's reasoning is pretty sound too!
