I just wanted to throw this idea out there for discussion and see how plausible it would be and get people talking.
I just got an iPad and there are some Gamebook apps that are a real blast to play. The interface that runs the books is great, but the whole time I was playing them I kept thinking back to Seventh Sense and saying to myself, "Dave did this first" or "This is just as fun as playing Seventh Sense". I really feel that Seventh Sense is of the same caliber as the other gamebooks apps on the iTunes store.
So that being said, what do some of you think of the plausibility of Seventh Sense being ported as an iPad App?
I think there are two considerations that would make or break this;
1. Programming. I don't know much about programing but obviously there would have to be some converting to make Seventh Sense run on an iPad's iOS. Isn't the iOS SDK free to download? Does that mean that anyone with the source code for Seventh Sense and the SDK could convert it? I know that Dave is busy already, would he be willing to let someone do the conversion. Is there someone out there knowledgeable enough to do so?
2. Apple approval and pricing. So every app that is on the iTunes store goes through Apple's approval right? Then it get's put onto the store. Does this cost anything for the developer? Is anyone familiar with this process. The reason I ask is because as far as I understand Project Aon's agreement with Joe Dever is that this is a non-profit effort and thus if there was a Seventh Sense App it would have to be free, right? So if there is a substantial amount of money required just to submit the program to Apple and get it on the iTunes store, that cost could not be recouped through sales of the app. So if it were to happen the cost would have to be paid through donations maybe? I would be willing to donate money to such a cause. Think about it, Lone Wolf on your iPod/iPhone/iPad!! How cool would that be!
Anyway, I'm sorry for my ignorance, I wish I could contribute some real information on if this could be done. In lieu of that I figured I would try and start a serious discussion about it and possibly get some real information out of it. Thanks to anyone who might be willing to help.
