This thread is for discussion of the Kai Monastery. It can be for talking about the "Safekeeping" rule, or it can be for citing descriptions of the monastery.
For example,
Are there descriptions of the monastery pre-darklord invasion?
What was the monastery like during Shadow on the Sand? When exactly was it rebuilt?
Why was it rebuilt (again?) in Book 13? Or had the work been ongoing?
Descriptions, discussion about the Tower of the Sun, the Vault of the Sun, defenses of the Monastery, etc.

Scarecrow's exploits remind me of one safekeeping nuance... I have never allowed myself to touch the Safekeeping" between books 10 and 11 since there is really no time between these books. In a way, Book 10 and 11 are like one vast adventure.
Thoughts? Does anyone, for example, use the Sommerswerd in Book 10 and then stow it in Safekeeping before Book 11?

I believe that you can't use safekeeping also between book 17 and 18. How can you put things in safekeeping in Lencia at the beginning of book 18?
LW: "Hey Prarg, can you keep these gold crowns and Special Items for me? They weight a lot and I need all my energy to go back to the monastery as fast as I can. You will send them back to me with the next messenger that your king will send to Sommerlund."
Prarg: "Hum...okay! You can count on me! (muttering to himself) Sucker!"
For the description of the monastery, there was a picture of it in the MC, and a member of TotS made a map of it based on the informations that he gathered. You can see it in the Traveler's Guide to the Lastlands that you can find in the download section.

You can't stash stuff in between 10 and 11, it specifically says so. That's why I had to lug my +4 Alether (special delivery for the Chaos Master) all the way through Book 10.

Ghost Bear,
Thank you SO MUCH! Is this picture from the Magnamund Companion or did you illustrate it yourself? It is really top-notch. I find it especially interesting that the Kai Monastery has dungeons as well. I suppose you would have to have these if you are unwilling to kill all your opponents.
Or you can do it the "easy" way by taking them to Toran and dumping them through the Shadow-Gate!
"I - I'm sorry, M'Lord. My family is starving and I merely needed a bit of coin to buy some bread."
"The Kai don't tolerate thievery. You're going to Toran tomorrow."
"NOOOOOOO!"

Those images were put up on the LW-ERPG Yahoogroups filespace. I think they're from the MC, but I'm not certain.

Thank you, Black Cat! I am glad to hear this, for it means that the image is cannon. This is one awesome monastery - I would even say that it is a fortress!
How all the Darklords snuck in and offed everyone I'll never know - I suppose Zagarna could do some AMAZING things with a giant army of Kraan, Giaks, and worse. Too bad it didn't help him at Holmgard <sarcasm>

Regarding SafeKeeping, it is interesting to see that you can keep coins in safekeeping in Book 6, yet it does not specifically mention items. Intentional or oversight?
I think that when you lose your backpack in Book 7 that Dever may have been trying to thin out your belongings as a way to punish the munchkin-greeedy Lone Wolf who had a Backpack full of Potions (like me). He probably read the "Dragon" magazine article on how to balance the "Monty-Haul" Campaign.
