I have no idea. I have honourably challenged the honourless imposter to a duel, yet the yellow Naarson dog has not dared to take me up! North Star, *not* getting overinvolved... Terribly sorry... College has beckoned me, Chem labs and whatnot... big hassle. Anywho, I don't know what the huff is all about. I merely asked a question and happen to have the same initials as you. But if it's a fight you want I'll give it to ya. None shall call me an imposter! My honour is at stake! Prepare for battle! ns

Ever wonder why it is that you are allowed to take the Silver Bracers to the Grand Master series, but not the Bronin Vest?

You are forbidden to take armors and shields with you. But you can carry bracers and helm. I don't know, maybe you are too strong with all your special items !!! Or maybe Joe Dever had a loooong loooooong list of items-from-the-previous-adventures and he just wanted to make it shorter. Even backpack items from the previous adventures are rarely asked from the text, in the GM serie.

Well, you can take the Kagonite Chainmail. I guess Lone Wolf himself isn't as big a packrat as a lot of players, and he pares his kit down to a fairly small, easily carried lot (one armour, no shield...)
Leaves two questions, though. One: if you don't have the armour that Lone Wolf wants to bring through, can you convince him to use something else? (The usual one is Bronin Vest for Kagonite Chainmail, but what about normal mail or leather?)
Two: why's he still hanging onto a bunch of weapons? Well, this one's easier, it's because none of them are the sort he's going to discard... except that mysterious Jewelled Mace. (If that, why not the Bronin Warhammer too?)

Or maybe Joe Dever had a loooong loooooong list of items-from-the-previous-adventures and he just wanted to make it shorter. You know, I think it is one of the reasons why Joe made a list of allowed Special Items for the GM series. Someone in the forums of TotS gave in example book 12, calling it something like a long checklist of items that you collected in previous adventures. Here's what it approximately looked like: Section 1 If you have X, turn to section 2 If you have Y, turn to section 3 If you have Z, turn to section 4 If you don't have any of them, turn to section 5 Section 2 You used X. Turn to section 6 Section 3 You used Y. Turn to section 6 Section 4 You used Z. Turn to section 6 Section 5 You lost 5 EP. Turn to section 6 See? For one specific situation, there's now 4 possibilities of actions that you can do. If Joe would had kept all the Special Items from the previous books for the GM series, he would had then needed to make the books much more longer, say 450 sections.

The Grand Master Lone Wolf moves with speed and grace unlike any mortal ever known. On the other hand, this is REALLY hard to do if you have:
A Shield Chainmail ten neclaces lots of rattling keys etc
Maybe that's why. Before Grand Master, these items were more of a help to Lone Wolf than a hinderance. After Grand Master, Lone Wolf found that he had grown to the point where all that extra stuff during a mission slowed him down (does not explain bigger backpack, however).
The Kagonite Chainmail, however, is magical AND super-light I think, so it wouldn't count.
Ideas on that?

One of the reasons I'm considering not having any special items in the Silencer series.

You can put some, but don't put too much of them. Just keep control on them, like making them disappearing during the course of the adventure, like the (SPOILER) Dagger of Vashna and Helshezag in book 16.

Also, the Sommerswerd had to be hell, because of its massive bonuses. This sword is the main reason for the why the books can't be beaten on their own. He had to overcompensate for the sword's massive bonuses.
I'm thinking I'll have more story specials, like dagger of vashna and such.
