So I've been into Lone wolf for Years, but it wasn't until this last week that I finally sat down and started going through the series from start to finish. I finished the Magnakai series and started into the Grand Master series and I noticed that all of my books after the Magnakai (12-19) were all abridged editions! They are all US editions, I was wondering if anyone knew if there were unabridged US editions ever or what specifically are the differences between the US and UK editions?

Only the Grand Master books were abridged for US publication, but there were no unabridged US editions of them either. The abridgements typically took out different paths you could take (the one specific example I recall being told about is in book 13--the unabridged edition gives you two ways to attempt passage into Ruel, the US edition gives just one).
Additionally, the abridgements added all sorts of inconsistencies and errors in several books. ;D

The editing in book 14 was the worst; it was nearly unplayable after the hatchet-job.

... whereas the editing in Legacy of Vashna was extremely well done, and leaves no trace of it's existence (though I never had trouble in book 14 either- anyone want to point out specifics for me?)
And books 18 through 20 have some major story elements missing.

And books 18 through 20 have some major story elements missing. There was a horrible one in book 14 that I spent hours trying to solve one time. I went from trying to sneak by some Xaghash or Gourgaz and wound up flipping to a section where I had already rescued Banedon. I ended up reading the opening sentence of many sections until I found one that seemed to match up well enough to continue the quest. When I did, I wrote a new number next to 'turn to' in the offending section. Book 19 has a puzzle in it that I couldn't solve to save my life, but I've never had a problem solving any of them in the unabridged version. I would guess this was due to another poor job of editing. I would guess there are others, but because I no longer have the U.S. books and don't care if I ever get them again, I can't really look. I'll stick with PA and my U.K. versions, thanks! ;D

Why'd they do that? American's don't want to buy long books?

Why'd they do that? American's don't want to buy long books? Must have been a cost thing, from what general concensus is around here. Likely the same reason the books had black and white maps, and were smaller in diameter.

*Resists the urge to mention circular routes created in the editting process. Fails.* You know what's actually funny about your post GB? You mispelled "editing", so clearly the editing process let you down there! NS.
