I'm back onto my favourite contentious topic again, I'm afraid.
While searching for the answer to Doomy's fiendish Trivia question, I came across this page. It is a "humourous" spoof of gamebooks by someone who used to work for White Dwarf magazine. He's also quite a good friend of John Grant, or so the page makes out. The particular quotes I noted were these two:
and
Seems Grant/Barnett wasn't too happy working on the Legends books at all, then. He certainly sounds rather relieved to have prematurely killed the series. Additionally, the "humourous" cliffhanger ending he wanted rather explicitly shows his disdain for the character of Lone Wolf; if only he'd been writing that about Alyss or Q******.
What's a bit odd is LWC Newsletter #30 says:
It's almost as though Joe expected more books eventually, but as the above shows, Grant/Barnett had no intention of doing any more.

John Grant wrote many novelizations of Joe Dever's "Lone Wolf" choose-your-own-story fantasies. To his huge relief they let him stop after 12 novels.

John Grant was tempted to put a whopping cliffhanger at the very end of the last Lone Wolf novel: "as Our Hero dangles by a single blade of grass over the cauldron of bubbling lava, a crossbow-bolt is already hissing towards his groin, but if the caterpillar chews through the grass in time he'll drop just far enough that the bolt merely parts his hair rather than getting him in the chest ..." etc.

Joe Dever and John Grant have announced that they shall be taking a break from writing further titles in the Legends of Lone Wolf series during 1996. Both authors are contractually committed to other projects that will be keeping them very busy next year.
