Hi, just did some calculations, trying to figure out what the ranges possible for various parts of the series are. I found the following:
Kai series: CS 10+Random number, plus 2 for weaponskill, plus 2 for mindblast, for a grand total of 14. EP 20+Random number, no available modifiers for this.
Magnakai series: CS 10+Random number, plus 4 for Weaponskill with high rank, plus 6 for high-skill version of psi-surge, plus 5 for the total of the lorecircles. Grand total is 25, exactly the sum you start at in the grand master series. EP 20+Random number, plus 11 for all the lorecircles. Grand total is 31.
This is not counting equipment or drugs, but I figure those are CS 42+Random number, EP 39+Random number, with an additional +8 due to CS-enhancing drugs (alether and adgana). Using the helmet instead of the silver helmet, max becomes CS 40+Random number and EP 41+Random number instead, which is the maximum for maximum EP. However, the interesting parts are: CS 25+random is the grand master starting point, but that assumes using psi-blast, which costs 1 EP/round. EP 31+random is 1 point higher than the grand master series starts at.
So, Lone Wolf, during his meditations, figured how to do serious psi-blasting for free, but this cost him 1 EP permanently? =)

Psi-Surge doesn't work on every enemy, so I don't think that accounts for the increased base CS in the GM series. It may account for the increased base Gold Crowns, however.
Ex.: "Give me a raise, Ulnar, or you're gonna have a splitting headache for a year!" ;D

You're on the right track. Actually, it allows Lone Wolf to fit the extra two items in his backpack for the GM series. I can see it in the text now: Drawing on your improved mastery of Psi-surge, you focus on your backpack and its contents, stretching the fabric and distorting some of your belongings, but afterward you find you are able to fit two extra items inside. Fortunately, Lone Wolf learned Huntmastery before this event, so after this ordeal was over he still was able to find some dinner. There's nothing worse than a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich that has been bounced around in a backpack with heavy things all day!

Actually, the PBnJ Sandwich is a Special Item that you carry in a lunchpail by your side. Sorry...couldn't resist the chance to be corny. KL

I know the one you mean! It's the metal one with the pictures of famous Kai Lords painted all over the sides of it and Lone Wolf on the front lid, right? You can also store the ashen remains of Darklord Gnaag in it after you vaporize him, and it doesn't even cost an extra Special Item slot!

How to use the Sommerswerd in the Archery Contest Lone Wolf: "Look what I can do!" *chops Altan's leg off* Altan: "AAAAAAAAA!!! AAAAAAAA!!! AAAAAAA!!!" I just caught this quote, and it's bloody brilliant. Well done.
