I recieved an anonymous email from a guy who claims to have hacked Tower of the Sun this morning (which just happened) and who says he's on his way here next.
Who knows if it's true or not, but I thought I'd toss a heads up out there.
The email deleted itself after I looked at it, so he's certainly got a couple of tricks. Maybe a fan, long ago spurned by Joe Dever? Or just a run of the mill [not a very nice person]?

Ooh, spooky! Just when I thought things were getting a little too quiet round here too...

I didn't know about the email, but TotS is still down at the moment.

Both the PA main site and this forum are hosted, so we neither have any possibilities, nor any "responsibilites", to protect them. So let's hope that our host admins of our have got their acts together...

Sigh...why? I'm asking it: why wasting his time like that? "Ok look, I hacked your website, huhuhuh! Now my mother wants me to get out of the basement so that I could take out the garbages to the street. At 35, if only it was that easy to find a girlfriend and a respectable job..."
Anyway, WH once told me that his system can track the IP of any hacker and that the IP is automatically sent to the FBI. Of all the attacks TotS suffered, none weren't retraced.

WTF? I found a way to access the site! I'm smarter than the hacker! ;D
EDIT: TotS is up and running again! (6:11 pm, EST)

That is just so, so sad. I really do feel for these people who think that there's some sort of reward in hacking web sites. I'm not saying hacking (or cracking, rather--legitimate skilled computer bodhisattvas would prefer to be called crackers, I'm told, even if it is weird given the racial connotation of the word) is retarded, but hacking a web site just to hack it seems stupid. There's no payoff, no benefit, no nuthin'. You just make a lot of people angry, make other people nervous, and cause chaos that has no legitimate payoff for you. If you're going to hack something, hack something cool. Hacking a fan website is the same as trolling a fan bulletin board, but more destructive.

So has anything actually come of this threat so far?

So has anything actually come of this threat so far? I think it was a bluff. Nothing so far. it would be silly of him to do on two connected sites. Makes it easier to find him.
