This is my first post on Project Aon. I've been a long time fan of Dever's Lone Wolf series. Amazingly, I had no idea there was such a internet fan base until last week. I stumbled across this site and Tower of the Sun(while looking for something science fiction related, oddly enough) and have rediscovered my love for Dever's work. Which brings me to this post. I have noticed that there are alot of fans here doing projects. I'd like to take this opportunity to offer my services. I am a professional graphic artist, specializing in layouts for print and PDF formats (my day job) but, my real passion is illustration. Here... have a look... members.cox.net/simmons07/Kai.jpg This sketch took me about 20 minutes during my lunch break at work... (I know this post is virtually the same as the one I put on TotS, but hey... I'm just trying to show off... )

Sol or I might be able to use your skills on our gamebooks... but that's a big maybe for me, as I HAVE NO MONEY.
And incidentally no food. Currently researching whether the two are connected.
Oh, and welcome to the site.
Which Kenshi are you named after, if any?

C'mon, Zipp... nobody does this for money! We do it for the love of it! I suppose I should have been more clear. I'd like to take this opportunity to offer my services FREE OF CHARGE to anyone who would like some art to go with their fan projects. No Kenshi in particular... just... Kenshi.

IIRC, the Captain of the first boat you take en route to Port of Suhn is named Kenshi (book 22). Anyway, welcome! And I can see that you have a great talent.

Kenshi,
I might really like to take you up on your Illustrations Offer. I am writing some new Lone Wolf Gamebooks and like the idea that each could be illustrated in a manner sililar to the originals.
Your sketch is very good!
I will tell you what: when I actually complete enough of this book that I can honestly say it is underway, I will post it to my private site and let you have a look. You can choose to illustrate whatever portion of the text you like.
When I have the first of these books finished, I would like to make it public to all the fans of Aon. This fanfic / gamebook will be my greatest act of love for Dever's books.
At this moment, I have written about 40 sections, but I am still trying to hack out the main plot before I consider these finished. I will keep you posted!
Welcome to the group! It is a pleasure to meet you!

Well, OK, so I can't resist posting just a tidbit from my upcoming gamebook:
You can hear many voices whispering in your mind although you cannot understand what they are saying. You are shocked and stunned when you realize that the voices are not coming from the insectoid. They are coming from Helshezag itself. In your hands, the dark blade begins to pulse and glow, emitting a dark evil light. As you hold the blade, you realize that its power is growing - against this enemy, it will give you a +7 to your COMBAT SKILL. Remember, if you choose to use it, Helshezag will drain you of 1 ENDURANCE point on the second and subsequent rounds of combat.

Hey sol, form one writer to another... how's the book coming? What problems have you run into?

Hey Zipp - thanks for asking!
I would say that I am experiencing the desire to write four or five different stories - despite this, I will need to settle on just one. Issues I am considering:
The "Lone" in Lone Wolf - I need him to adventure by himself, but at the same time, after Book 12 he obviously has much to do concerning the restoration of the Kai. I am trying to figure out how to have him "present" to oversee these tasks while at the same time having him able to adventure on his own - in my mind, that's the essense of the series.
Also - I am trying to come up with a good villian. Sommerlund is at peace, and yet if Lone Wolf is to have some nice butt-kicking scenes, I need an antagonist. Darklords are out, lesser Darklords might be cool, but can they be as deadly or fearsome after Lone Wolf's accomplishments? I am also thinking about using the Draakarim - I doubt that they crumbled the day after Gnaag did - in fact, I am sure they kept on fighting. Or of course, I could come up with an all-new character villian. This is attractive, too, but I want to retain enough flavor of the real series for fans to say, "Ah yes, this is Lone Wolf."
I can surely write more before having these answered, but I don't want to go TOO far just yet.
Don't want to spoil anything either, but you get the idea.

Ah, pretty good! I am enjoying the act of balancing the strength of opponents, for example, to the strength of Lone Wolf. I enjoy creating first one scene in particular, then fleshing it out with opportunities for character choice. I am also being mindful to create a path for the weaker character to take. It is pretty cool.
It sounds like you are making some good progress on your book as well.

Well it is good to see that other people have taken upon themselves the task of writing Lone Wolf fan fiction. Sorry, I'll back up...
How have you guys been?! Sorry, it feels like it has been ages since I posted. The Christmas biz kept me away plus exams are coming up in two weeks. Anyways, it is good to see you all again. Sol, your gamebook looks good from the excerpt you let us read. And I am interested to see what yours is about Zipp. Good luck to both of you. I know first hand that it is a lot of work and requires a vast amount of patience.

I be posting an excerpt or two later on. Right now I'm focusing primarily on back story, future story, and the game/choices themselves.
