I enjoyed your Dark One series quite a bit and I'd like permission to make references to the Dark One, the NeoDrakkar, and the events in the Dark One series in an adventure book I am writing. I do not plan to make your characters central to my plot, but rather to use them as background and for occassional encounters (e.g., fighting a NeoDrakkar). I am not going to do this in a way that restricts your ability to write sequels and, if you want, I'll send you all segments of my text that use your creations so you can approve or disapprove of the things I say about them.
BTW, I liked the ending even though I'm not religious. It reminded me of The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde (a great book). Was that an influence on The Dark One series?
If others know that Sean Robert Shaw is not reachable via this forum, I'd appreciate help reaching him.

I'd appreciate it too (contacting him) since I've been doing translations of his adventures without his permission. ^_^ I've done Chapters 1-5 up to now. In French it becomes L'Élu des Ténèbres ("The Chosen One of Darkness") since there's no good way of translating The Dark One. Available on the Xhoromag website at www.xhoromag.com for any French-speaking interested parties.

I don't think he has those things copyrighted, which would mean he probably doesn't mind if you use those characters. Nice of you to ask, though.

In any case, if you can't get a hold of him, my advice is to do what most people do. Change the name of the creatures you're using from his series, don't use their origin story (come up with your own) and acknowledge him in the credits.
That's perfectly legal, and it's also polite.

So no one has any leads? I'm trying to post a query at "Tower of the Sun," but I forgot my password and the "Lost Password" button fails to send an e-mail containing my password to my inbox. I guess I'll have to get another e-mail address and a new TotS account. If I can't find him, I'll include the references to his creations in my book with a disclaimer that those characters are copyrighted under his name. The extent to which I plan to use his creations is so minimal that I doubt he would care. I'm not going to close the door on him using his characters in a sequel, nor am I going to add any new details about the characters. Because of that, plus the fact that I respect the rights of artists, I will remove the references to his creations if he sees my book and becomes angry. BTW, I can't change their names because that would defeat the purpose of including them, which is to pay tribute to his Dark One series.

Hey, I posted in this topic a long time ago! My naivetee surrounding Copyright law was blatantly obvious.

I know this is an old topic, probably should have replied to this a LONG time ago, did to someone else somewhere else.
I have NO problems with anyone copying, reproducing or redoing anything that I have written...including anything with Lone Wolf. I'd love to have credit somewhere in the items, but even that isn't necessary.
For other items, I have no problems with anything I've written thus far, though if the rights are owned by another publisher, they may need to be checked with first (these are non-lonewolf items).
Everything I've written was written for others to enjoy, not for me to hoard or do anything of the like.
Sorry it took so long for me to see this, and if you are still wanting any info on this, this is my official response.
I'd LOVE for someone to actually repost them now that my site is somewhat dead, and anything else they so desire that was by me.
