Hey guys,
Are you guys ever disappointed about how Lone Wolf has fadde to obscurity? I mean, I think it sucks. I have all the books from 1-20 but i mean i'll never be able to own the new order books or all the legends. All i have of those are 1,2,3,5! I mean it sucks. I love the characters, the world and the setting. And its all too expensive for me to ever afford! And, i have the US editions! So they're not even the real british versions. Sigh...
I can't wait for the RPG book, i've already put money down at my local hobby shop for it. But, its not gonna be the same as reading the novels. Plus, i'll be lucky if i can find anyone willing to play the RPG where i'm from.
Anyone feel the same way i do? I'd like to hear from ya.

I felt the same way you did back about 2 years ago. The prices of the New Order books on ebay were prohibitive (I saw a mint#22 go for about $300).
Then one day I just decided that I was going to get them. Period. And I did. So don't give up. Persistance and patience are the keys.
As for the RPG, I really can sympathize with you about a lack of players or playing time. Being 32 with a brand new house, a 2nd child due in about 5 weeks, and working nights is bad enough...but when all your friends move off it kind of leaves you on the proverbial deserted island.
Just last night I pleaded with my wife to please please please give RPGing a shot once the LWRPG came out. She said she'd try, which is about all I can hope for, I guess....

The general rule is: if I like it, it's not popular. Lone Wolf isn't the only book series that is drastically underrated.

I saw two New Order Series books in a second-hand bookstore in Malaysia. Cost around RM4 (US$1???) each. Still thinking of buying it...
Book 22 and 23. Should I buy it? What do you guys think?

Is it in English? If so, with all haste, get back to that bookstore and buy them!!!

Yep. Of course, it was a mint condition book, and back then they weren't as "common" on ebay as they are now. Still, if luck is on your side, you stand to make a lot by selling New Order books.

Only if you feel the need to get them, sure. Personally, I'll take the burden of them off your hands for TWICE what you payed for them. Plus postage. I know I'm generous. Please, no need to thank me. Really. Nerethel

Just to let you know you can buy all of the Legends series off the internet very cheaply. I bought the pdf formatted ones and bought them all at once. It only cost me $25 dollars (US).
If you want to know where to get them go to the links section at the main Project Aon page. It's the second link down.

Without wanting to sound like a party pooper, Lone Wolf had a good innings. Reading your original post brought to mind the acute embarrassment I felt wandering into the Young Adult section of my local bookshop when I wanted to buy the last couple of Grand Master books (there's probably a few still there!) The original readership grew up and became interested in drinking, girls and parties - not saying that's a sign of progress, but that's what happened. The RPG won't drag Lone Wolf back into the mainstream of popular culture, much and all as we'd like it to become a hot topic down in the pub

Well let me tell you guys something. The original excitement of Lone Wolf may have died down but it is not extinguished. Not as long as we few fans still hold it in high regard. And I have gotten ALOT of my old AD&D buddies into Lone Wolf. My friend Matt absolutely loves Lone Wolf. Alot of the younger generation have never heard of Lone Wolf. I myself got lucky by stumbling across a few tattered copies after it had died out. It's up to us to keep it alive. Those of you 'old farts' who still have your series, get your kids and teens into them. When I have children I plan to introduce them to the world of Lone Wolf around 10 years old or so. Lone Wolf's too good to waist. ;D

The first time I collected them, they were in the sci-fi/fantasy section of the bookstores. They weren't in the young adult/"kiddy" section until I hit college, which is probably why they didn't sell as well. I blame the publishers.

Yeah, but to be truthful, while we got interested in girls, they didn't necessarily become interested in sad AD&D freaks like us! ;D Ahhh . . . sweet liquor eases the pain . . .

I know exactly what you are saying. If tomorrow they suddenly republished all of the books and put them into stores I would be the first person at Borders, waiting in line to buy the entire series. lol

HEY! Congratulations in advance. I am very fortunate in the fact that my wife was willing to give RPG's a try when we started dating. She's smart, pretty, and likes to game. Absolutely perfect! ;D I'll pay FOUR TIMES, plus shipping of course. Seriously, I'd grab them up faster than I'd run from a Kalkoth if I were you. Even if you didn't keep them as any Lone Wolf fan would who didn't have them already, you could *shudder* sell them on EBay for a good amount of money. Maybe that's why I didn't have a girlfriend for those few years I spent most of my time in a gaming store. . .
