OK, I'm confused.
I've just finished reading The Lorestone of Varetta again (still a brilliant read, BTW) and I'm puzzled over the fact that it seems to indicate that there are only six Lorestones of Nyxator. I assumed this to be a typo, but flicking through The Rotting Land I came across a statement by the Elder Magi towards the end stating that Lone Wolf needed to hurry up and acquire the remanining three Lorestones. Seeing as this is the novelisation of The Jungle of Horrors, there are still four Lorestones for Lone Wolf to find, surely? Can anyone shed any light on this?

*scratches head* ... maybe the Elder Magi wanted to secretly keep one for themselves? Wouldn't put it past them! ;D No, seriously, I have no idea. Maybe the author wanted to shorten Lone Wolf's road somewhat ... but that wouldn't make too much sense, as Lone Wolf doesn't need one full book for every single Lorestone ... The Wytch-King, confused as well

Six? That's just plain out of order. In Biblical terms (oo-er) seven is the number of perfection - e.g. seven musical notes, seven colours in the rainbow - while six is the number of the Beast. Strange

That has to be wrong; Joe actually named them all in one of the LW club newsletters. I can't access pdf files here at work, but I know all but the last or next to last one. In order of their finding, they are: Varetta, Herdos, Ohrido, Tahou, Luomi, (other- may have started with a V), and Nyxator. The other one I'm sure is listed in the early teens or so of the newsletters. Anyone got a link? Outspaced, perhaps? Maybe Paul Barnett's information was flawed, and due to the paradox created by the confusion on how many Lorestones there were caused the series to go out of print? Actually, indigo doesn't really count. It's a shade of blue or violet. If you look at the visible spectrum, it is made up of the 3 primary colors with the 3 secondary colors in between, along with all their shades, with the shortest wavelength (blue) and the longest (red) creating violet. ~Relenoir, who got an "A" in Physical Science 2 years ago. P.S. By the way, just won The Lorestone of Varetta earlier today, and am over halfway through The Tellings. Can't wait to read it! Edit: Okay, I was wrong about one of the Lorestones. See Outspaced's reply #20 to this thread for the names of the last 2. "Nyxator" was not the name of a Lorestone, as I had erroneously stated above.

Possibly he was confused because you pick up two Lorestones in the Prisoner of Time? I mean, if he went simply by counting the Magnakai books, and knowing that you don't get one in the last book, it'd be a reasonable mistake to make.
I get the feeling from reading the Legends that Paul was not a massive fan of the Lone Wolf gamebooks as Joe wrote them, so maybe he didn't know them as intimately as we do. Or at least not the later ones - since the Legends finished at the Jungle of Horrors.

Quite right. But my old physics teacher told us that Newton decided that there must be seven colours because seven is the number of perfection. And Newton's opinion on the matter has stuck for centuries because (a) he was a rather significant figure, and (b) it sounds good

while six is the number of the Beast. Strange Actually, six hundred and sixty six is the number of the beast; and 'it is a man's number'! And you, Hal! Don't tempt me into another diatribe against the greatest female fictional character ever! I'm warning you!

I mean, if he went simply by counting the Magnakai books, and knowing that you don't get one in the last book, it'd be a reasonable mistake to make. Yeah, but Joe Dever was series editor, and there was obviously dialogue between Paul and Joe regarding information about Magnamund, even on some very minuscule details. For example, in The Lorestone of Varetta someone tells Lone Wolf that one of the Ceners (the mountains in the Stornlands) is called Mt Prindar. That obviously came from Joe. (It may actually be in one of the gamebooks as well; if so, if Grant/Barnett was scouring the gamebooks so closely, I don't see hoe he could mistake seven for six.) Yes! I've felt the same way for a long time. Why else would he go out of his way to tarnish Lone Wolf's character by making him die (twice) and by making everyone better at everything than he is (I'm afraid I didn't much care for Paido the Arrogant in The Rotting Land; I was kinda happy that 'they lost him'). And don't get me started on She-Who-Must-Never-Be-Named! Or Alyss. Even **SPOILER** Rhola Rhada, or her full aspect as Avatar of Ohrido, is cleverer, more powerful, and more intuitive than he is; perhaps she's better with a &^$(*ing sword as well! If Alyss and Q****** were so great, why didn't THEY save Magnamund? However, this isn't getting us any closer to answering the Lorestone discrepancy, so I'll calm down!

Don't underestimate me. I'm sure I hate Qinefer as much as yourself if not more. We could make a contest. Defying me would be hazardous you little sycophantic Qinefer lover.

Well, if this is the case, have you entertained your creative dislike by voting in my poll Survey for Readers of Legends? I should hope so! I'm sure you'll find it entertaining! ~Relenoir, who hates she-who-must-not-be-named as much as everyone else.

Paido the WHAT?? Oh, don't get me wrong: he's nothing like Alyss, or She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. But he is on a Legends-Banedon level. Hmm. You know those American buddy-buddy cop movies where two mis-matched partners have to investigate a case? That's what the dynamic between Lone Wolf and Paido reminded me of.

Defying me would be hazardous you little sycophantic Qinefer lover. I . . . I can't believe you used such language--flagrant use of the Q-word--on a public forum! There might be children reading! Shame on you! And anyway, at least I've never had an erotic dream about her! ( Oh, Q******, your Hal loves you so much . . . ) ;D
