In terms of hosting on your own site, page content is fine, but the text from the books MUST be read from the Aon site - no copies of the books can be hosted in any form on any other site.

OK two questions:
1) Is it ok to include the 7th sense distribution (including the books) on the hosted site and
2) if not, could Aon host the files and we'll just include linkbacks to the files hosted on Aon's site?

1) No. The books can ONLY be hosted on AON pages. It is OK to build everything else on your site, and link to the AON pages for the books. A copy of all source code should be saved in the user area of the AON site, but we'll get to that later. 2) Dave has a user area on AON I believe where his program is currently hosted - this is the place to link to

To clarify the copyright situation, Joe Dever has not waived his copyright, nor has he placed the books in the public domain; the books are freely downloadable only from the authorised location (i.e. the Project Aon site). This is a legal requirement and allows the Project to continue. It's not a "Big Brother" mentality by those who run the site.

I didn't complain; I was only clarifying.

There's no need to host anything but the 7th sense program itself, as it can now directly download any/all of the files it needs directly from the aon site. Of course, until the new version is finished, we can just link to the 7th sense downloads that are currently hosted on the aon site (links are in the first post of this thread). Thanks again for the help with getting a site up and running, jsager! I really appreciate it.

It's no problem, I will see what work I can do on it for tomorrow, and I have to doublecheck with my partner about hosting for you.
How much traffic does the 7th sense site get?
Also if you want a unique domain name (i.e. seventhsense.com as opposed to something that's a subdomain of mine) you will have to purchase it.
I do own the domain scratchwaregames (although I'm not using it right now) and would be fine with hosting it as seventhsense.scratchwaregames.com.

I don't need a unique domain name... hosting on the scratchwaregames.com would be great. As to the site traffic? I can't say, since it has never had a site! Just this thread on the forum, which weighs in at some 14000 views or so in the ~8 months that it's been around, but I have no idea how many times the program has been downloaded. You don't need to worry about the bandwidth hit, though. Aon can still host the files, and we'll just have the actual website elsewhere. Some sort of traffic counter would be nice, to see how many visitors we actually get!

OK i'll talk to my partner tomorrow, I imagine that he wouldn't have any objection to hosting this (he'll want me to practice building DNN websites anyway).

Nice to see this thread a hive of activity once again ;D I'd never heard of dot net nuke websites till I read your posts jsager, did it take you long to learn because it looks dam complicated! I'm working on a few websites at the minute, two of which are using Joomla CMS, another open source software. Great little program now I'm finally understanding it. Dave, I found the icons - didnt realise they were in a new thread. Is fun seeing the evolving identity of Lone Wolf laid out in sequence.

I've actually never used DotNetNuke before, except to create the sample website I showed to Dave privately.
However, my business partner is big on it, as it's a free high powered CMS with an open source pardigm that allows third parties to program to it, and it has tremendous traction in the .NET community. There are some really professional companies that have made their entire living working with DNN, whether providing modules (like storefronts) or creating company websites.
It also doesn't hurt that he's an expert with it.
My company offers website creation, and so I need to learn it so that all the DNN work doesn't fall in his lap, and therefore what better project to dip my toes in than this?

Dave, I've spoken to my business partner and we will happily host a dotnetnuke site for you for free.
I'll give you more details on it later.

Hi there! I'm obviously new, been a lurker for quite a while now. My vote, together with everyone else - Dave, the program is AWESOME!! :-)
But here's by query : I'm not sure if it's a bug, but in FOTW, in section 332, where you're fighting the Helgast (you're with Rhyger's men, got the Magic Spear...), the section reads that if you do not have Mindshield you have to lose an additional 2 EP every round. I have Mindshield, but still lost the extra 2 EP. Problem?
If it's already sorted in the upgrade, sorry.... lol
Thanx again for a great program!
