I have just released the very simplistic version 1.0 of a PalmOS reader for Lone Wolf. Go check it out at: jinxidoru.com/lonewolf.htmlAny advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

The previous location of the Palm OS reader is not up anymore, don't bother following the above link to jinxidoru.com. Is there any download location available? Has anyone kept a copy of the source code?

This appears to be a link to the sourceforge.net version of the program. It does seem to be only version 0.1b and I cannot spot the source code. sourceforge.net/projects/lonewolf-palm/My palm is elsewhere now but maybe others who use it could let us know how they get on with it. If people are keen you could probably contact jinxidoru via sourceforge. Jon

Thanks for the update. I remember trying this, or a very similar program, before. It's certainly nice to have the books available on my PDA. It's easier to read a gambook than to keep writing commands for interactive fiction games, so I'd enjoy having these on my PDA. I have a new PDA now though, and it looks like there are some problems with the program and/or book files.
I'm now using a Palm Zire72 running PalmOS 5.2.8. It crashed my Palm the first time I clicked on the Stats button, but hasn't done so again yet. The stats screen doesn't seem to work properly though. I can change tabs between skills, but cannot select/deselect any of them. Also, I cannot adjust the combat skill and endurance point values. From the little testing I was doing just now, the story screen works fine. I can get a random number if needed, and can select the next section to go to from the numbered boxes. The forward/back choices are nice additions. Scrolling up/down the page has to be done one line at a time though, which wouldn't be so bad if you could hold down the scroll arrow. Since I can't, and my Palm's 5-way navigation button won't scroll up/down either, I have to keep tapping the arrow over and over. It also looks like the combat information for opponents isn't getting included in the books properly, or at least for the first one I got to (section 55 of book 1). Something similar seems to be happening in other places, like section 181 of book 2; the list of items the shop has is not displayed. I assume adding some feature to help handle combat would be kind of complex, and that's why it's not included. Likewise for inventory management and such. I also came across a sort of footnote, which isn't in the printed copy I have, so I'm guessing it's some sort of clarification included in the internet version (it's been a while since I looked at them, too).
Well, that's what I saw so far. I'm always interested in having fun things to do on my PDA, so if work is continuing on this program, I'll try to help with debugging and such. It's certainly useable as is, but some modifications would make it a lot better. Thanks for the program, and let me know if I can help with it somehow.
