Thank you for your willingness to help. I was the one originally coordinating with Michael. I don't have any current contact info for him, regrettably. We need someone to start from scratch on this project and post the source code.

I guess that if you want to start afresh you have to sit down and write a set of specifications. I would like a reader in my PDA to:

* help me go from section to section
* do the dice rolling (easy)
* manage encounters (die rolls and stats of LW and adversary)
* keep track of objects in the inventory (easy) and given in sections (more difficult)
* keep track of stats for me when I am hurt in sections or have a given object (not that easy)

The easy stuff is converting the xhtml files to something readable in a PDA, the complex stuff is to add meta-data (or hooks) to the sections so that the reader can keep track of objects gained/lost, points gained/lost and can do the bookeping for the user.

Has anyone found a generic Palm OS Reader for FF books?

I developed a PalmOS reader several years ago (around 2000-2001) that did much of this. It used to be downloadable from the Project Aon site, but has since disappeared. Somewhere along the way I lost the source code of the most recent version, but I do have some older source code. Unfortunately it was done in PocketSmalltalk, which is no longer being developed and has a few bugs in the VM (specifically there is a memory leak that cause sporadic crashes).

I had converted LW 1-5 as well as Dawn of the Darklords from the Magnamund Companion to the appropriate format at some point in time, but have lost my copies of 3-5. I can probably make what I have available if you are interested.

I would be interested in taking a look at whatever was developed. I'm not a Palm OS developer, but I can try to see if I can do something with it...
