Disclaimer: I've only read books 1-20.
Now that that's out of the way, how's that for convenience that every coin in Magnamund has a size correspondent with its value, so that you can fit the same purchasing power into your standard coin pouch? Were the crowned heads of Magnamund on the ball, or what?

Nope. You see, it's a matter of the belt pouches, not the coins. They are enchanted to safely contain only 50 Gold Crown's worth of coins. For insurance reasons. Pouch spits out each and any coin over that amount. Or it's done to make sure that pickpockets cannot get unhygienically wealthy after but one successful attempt. ... Hm, for a moment I thought that maybe the different coins are made up of varying amounts of gold (and possibly other metals) and thereforehave different values and size/weight. Then I remembered my own currency and thought to myself: Probably not. Fazit: The Wytch-King

It's also remarkable how the war torn Stornlands seem to experience zero inflation

Yeah, never allows anyone to capitalize on the whole importing/exporting routine.

What I want to know is why all the other currencies revolve around (and are most easily exchanged with) Gold Crowns when Lune is the dominant currency in Magnamund?

I think there was an Olga or something like that in there somewhere.... Orla (In Siyen and some other country). And Ren, too. What I want to know is why all the other currencies revolve around (and are most easily exchanged with) Gold Crowns when Lune is the dominant currency in Magnamund? The main character is Sommlending, so he mentally converts other currencies into his own.

Orla (In Siyen and some other country). And Ren, too. Don't forget the Torqs. SPOILER: Only used on Sheasu, it is made of paper. So, DON'T change your gold for them, it's not worthing it.

Huh, I never thought of it that way. It's just like how when I go to other countries I have to fight back the urge to say "How much is that in REAL money?"

Just for the sake of completeness, Thomas posted the exchange rates from the Magnamund Companion here. The Wytch-King

That's my take on it as well. That's just great, now I'm craving ice cream! Where's my Ben&Jerry's! If I get fat, it's your fault Reginald! I think there is Ain too, in the Mag. Companion, used by the Drodarin/Dwarven nations.
