Awesome, jdb! Those are some difficult stats to work with - good luck with the last 3 books! I have been trying some low stat runs myself (though not as low as you!) and I can't get past book 2...

Well, I gave up after my 4th death.
-Killed by a mast
-Killed by the priest when fighting unarmed
-Failed in my mission after Lor-Kymar's death (the battle took one round too long)
-Fell into ice water and froze to death
My luck went a lot better after my restart (19/21)

I just managed to finish a Hardcore run with 14/26 stats - only died once in book 2 - instadeath from a sandsnake doh! I was really worried about that battle with Haakon at the end of book 5, but when the Sommerswerd gave me it's +8 bonus vs. Darklords, I realized that I could whoop him! Now, I'm going to try playing with even lower stats...
Edit: tried a 12/22 Hardcore run - got to Barraka in book 4, and he beat me because of some miserable rolls... (plus, I somehow missed the Silver Helmet in book 3, and every +2 CS *really* helps!)

But think about the glory if you do make it all the way through!
I'm nerving myself to go 10/20 Hardcore, but the feral howling emanating from the small sane part of my mind is giving me a headache.

(To be honest, after more than several attempts of course (one falling mast, Itikar fall, Burrowcrawler etc...). Aye, 'tis really a conquer...I'm still trying  , but I'm gonna beat them tryin a new approach. Blasted Giak+Doomwolf combo! I've died in that combat a gazillion times!!! I shall now play just to finish the Kai series, not planning ahead for the rest of my quest... |

Updated the Hall of Fame with a few more submissions from fans, including another 10/20 Hardcore run with no deaths! Incredible! You people amaze me!
btw: 1300 visits, 440 downloads as of today! (approx 6 weeks)

Loads of downloads and people sending praise! Guys - we should all help Dave out and at least donate a couple of $ to say thanks. Something of this calibre deserves our appreciation and will hopefully encourage future books (please)

I'm not the first, and I doubt I'll be the last, but not many can brag this: whenever Dave gets a chance to validate me, I'll be entering the august company of the 10/20 no death hardcore run elite.
I obviously have no way to prove this next sentence, so take it for what it's worth: it was my FIRST TRY.
