Black Cat just posted a link on TotS to this blog by a programmer who was until recently employed by Ksatria Gameworks, who were working on a Lone Wolf game for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Apparently the firm has gone belly-up.

Further research led me to find curriculum vitae of other programmer that used to work Ksatria and some of them leaft the company in 2009. Although they don't mention why, one might guess it is because the company went bankrupt...

That's a relief. Lone Wolf as a generic fantasy FPS would have been a travesty.

It would work fine on something like the Oblivion engine - there would just need to be a time-bound element to some of the quests to preserve some of the realism.

Bethesda would be an ideal developer as it is already well established, has a suitable engine, and is known for a 'cult' title[fallout3]already. Bioware [mass effect, kotor] would also be suited for LW. I have always imagined a LW game as 20 levels mirroring the first 20 books with a mild rpg element or two. Here's hoping a respected developer sees the massive potential and makes a worthy title.

TotS member Wildhorse has contacted a senior member of the Ksatria staff who confirmed the developer went out of business in February. The same guy hinted at an anouncement to come, but whether this is anything to do with Lone Wolf is anyone's guess.

I am still with Project Aon, although I must apologise for my long absence here.
My contact was with the Marketing/Project Co-ordinator Andrew. I suppose some of the important staff members are still around, since he replied me with the Ksatria domain address.

And he said that some development were taking place... If he's still in the office of Ksatria, then something might happen to save the studio soon. Why would some important staff members still be with the studio if it has indeed fired all its programmers since February?

I think that those who love Lonewolf want it to spread and be recognized by a broader audience. We also crave more and more Lonewolf content for ourselves. I think that while this FEELING is pure, in reality these thoughts miss the point.
Who here hasn't witnessed a dozen beloved childhood franchises clumsily ressurected and sodomized for profit by whoring them out to the mass market. How many big-dumb, soulless movies does Hollywood need to make or REMAKE, or crappy liscense games to come out, before those that love the original stop going to see them and stop buying the electronic refuse.
Lonewolf, our Lonewolf, is rich with nuance and stylism. This is what makes Lonwolf special, and our ability to recognize and appreciate these powerful subtleties are what make US special. You can bet your life that the specific style and nuances that we love about the originals will be THE VERY FIRST THINGS TO GO when any modern company "reimagines" Lonewolf in a way that is more "suitable" for pop-media - be it video game or movie.
Imagine Flight From the Dark centering around teen Lonewolf trying to resque is peasant GF so they can make it to the Holmgard prom. This is what Lonewolf would have to be to become a movie.
I love Lonewolf for what it is/was. Here's to the death of the Lonewolf video game!
As much as I would LOVE a great Lonewolf video game, I comepletely disbelieve that any company could handle the subject and produce a product that communicated what is awesome about Lonewolf.
At best they'd make a fun game which only wore the name "Lonewolf" as a ragged skin. I'd say, "Nice... but it ain't Lonewolf."

Awww, and this after I've looked at the same Ksatria screenshots for more than 2 years. I really hoped that it would turn out to be more than just a First-Person-Sommerswerd-Me-Up, especially since Joe Dever was on board.
But in retrospect, as some pointed out, maybe this is for the better. I'd rather imagine a wonderful game adaptation than playing a really awful one.

Wasn't there a video as well of actual gameplay? It looked quite interesting, albeit very 'dark'. I got a good laugh out of ravenconsipracy's example of re-imagining lone wolf for the masses.

Update to this, for those interested.
The LW game is still being developed, but it has switched studios to a Japanese studio.
More details as they come.
