Hey I know this is a place to browse and figure out faqs, but is there anywhere online where somone has made a rules faqs list? Just for easier perusing, ya know... To some extent, the Rules Handbook published by Project Aon intends to cover this: www.projectaon.org/books.htm?resource=rhOtherwise, someone with some free time on their hands (I wish it was me, but...) could go through all topics in this forum and extract all these questions and answers that's given here... it would make a very good start.

I went ahead and started one.
I'll upload what I have so far to my webspace for questions/comments, but what about the legalities? What do I need to say on it so Mr. Dever won't sue me?

I went ahead and started one. Great! The same as what you can see down here: Lone Wolf © ™ Joe Dever 1984-2004 Consider also putting it in the download section of The Tower of the Sun, when it's done. Or, at least, more done--such a beast never gets really finished.

Okay, one more question before I upload v1.0 to my webspace:
I have the copyrights for the Grey Star series like this:
The World of Lone Wolf (Grey Star): Concept copyright © Joe Dever and Gary Chalk 1985-2004 Text copyright © Ian Page 1985-2004
Acceptable?

I don't think that's actually necessary... you don't include any major amounts of the text from the books, right?
The point of the copyright/trade mark notice is to stress that Lone Wolf is not some public domain fairytale material that anyone can start publishing stories, games, etc. about.

I don't think that's actually necessary... you don't include any major amounts of the text from the books, right? Nah. Just a few quoted blurbs here and there. Nothing yet from the GS books, though. I went ahead and put it up without the GS copyright. It can always be changed if necessary. home.earthlink.net/~cellstage2/data/Lone_Wolf_by_Joe_Dever_Rules_FAQ.txtPlease take some time to read it over, and send any questions, comments, requests, corrections, whatever to my yahoo address (omegaflarex@yahoo.com). Or you can post here. Either way.

In the acknowledgements at the end, you thank Brain Williams. I assume you mean Brian Williams. Then again, mabye he is really brainy...

A possible answer to the Armor faq, concerning whether you die if you take it off or not.
I always treated the armor as a +EP bonus on top of my score to be applied before combat. This takes care of any issues of damage before combat.
Of course, there's still the questoin of whether or not you carry over the life after combat. In this case I always assumed you went to 1, like you said, to simulate the armor protecting you. Still, one could argue that it is very possible to be beaten to death within your armor, and I'd have to agree...

I always treated the armor as a +EP bonus on top of my score to be applied before combat. This takes care of any issues of damage before combat. So you add it at the start of a combat, but take it off right after? I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

Oh, I'm just saying that when out of combat, I don't apply the EP bonus to my score. Sure, I'm wearing the armor, but I always felt that it acted like healing, effective only against combat damage.
As for after combat, I follow your rule.
I just remember getting a bunch of questions myself about whether or not armor could save you from damage recieved outside of combat. I'm basically saying the answer is no.
Good faq, by the way, used it a lot already.

Okay, I understand now. But I really think the armor is intended to raise your max EP, so you have a little more to work with throughout the adventure. Any armor I acquire always gets its credit in the EP modifier of the statskeeper, not my current score.
Really, though, how often would discarding your armor happen? I can only think of one spot in the entire series where you're specifically forced to throw out your armor. The only other way to lose it is if you have a full stock of Special Items, then you come across a new one that you're forced to keep. Honestly, who would throw away their armor instead of something less valuable? I'd rather get rid of my map if I had to discard something.

What's your opinion on special item weapons and how many you can carry? Do you think there's a limit beyond the natural 12? Or is it Final Fantasy style, 99 mythril knives, 87 chainmails, and 12 broadswords... all carried by the invisible caravans trailing behind the characters...

I'm boring. I usually pick the same route and keep the same weapons/items during my play-throughs. Thus, at the maximum, I have these:
- Sommerswerd - sheathed on my belt - Dagger of Vashna - Tucked into either my tunic or boot - Silver Bow of Duadon - Slung over my shoulder - Helshezag - wrapped up in cloth (was it the Darklord's robe? I don't remember) and kept hidden under my backpack
Plus, I never carry them all at once. One or more are always left in safe-keeping. If you have The Sommerswerd and Dagger of Vashna in books 5 or 6, you could easily accomodate a Jewelled Mace (hooked onto your belt) or Bronin Warhammer (same).
So in answer to your question - anything goes, just try to visualize where the weapon is stored and use common sense. If it doesn't seem like there's room for it, don't take it.

Incidentally, I never considered my map as a Special Item, not through any wilful disrespect, but through simple ignorance NS.
