True, but you need not fight this enemy if you don't want to (if you know the secret way).
I agree that Book 1 may be the easiest if you choose the right paths. I remember fighting a Giak with Banedon... it had a CS of 9. This SEEMS okay at the time since LW might only have a 10 CS during this fight... and he should be able to win his first combat. Even so (except for Halvorc in Book 2) I do not recall another enemy so weak in all of the series.
Did anyone ever get killed by that 9 CS Giak?

Book 2, if you take the right skills.
I always found Book 5 fairly easy too, but that's because by then I was pretty tooled up. I think Book 12 is also very easy, provided you're careful, and/or awake.

Did anyone ever get killed by that 9 CS Giak? It is impossible to die against that ennemy. The minimum CS and EP that you can have before fighting this Giak is 10/20. And it is said that you must add 4 to your CS score, which makes a minimum of + 5 for the Combat Ratio. Even if you get a 1 on the RNT, the Giak loses more EP than you! In a maximum of 2 rounds, the fight should be over, with you winning by losing a maximum of 8 EP.
