Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the easiest book in the series?
I'm reading it again, so my guess may be a bit off, but I always thought Caverns of Kalte were exceptionally easy.
SPOILER HIGHLIGHT Sure, there is a possible fight with a Kalkoth, but it's near optional. And the final boss fight is easy as well, again near optional. Of course, if you miss saving Loi, you're screwed, but even then it's the only LW book with a failure ending that doesn't kill you.
Whew! Finally logged on.

Hard to say... it depends of your choice of disciplines, your special items, the paths you decide to take and so on. I'll say book 1 is very easy when you know the way around. The biggest thread is the Gourgaz I think, but someone else could have a different opinion. Oh yeah, I also agree with you Zipp about book 3. It's very easy. But book 11 is definitely not the easiest book.

Book 1 is perhaps a close second, but there are too many random number rolls that can kill you to really make it the easiest, in my opinion. Plus, you have less disciplines and items and, if you're playing the whole series as one, a defenitive lack of the Sommerswerd.

Beyond the Nightmare Gate from the Grey Star series. You can win the whole book without any combats or random numbers and the use of only 1-3 points of Willpower.

I couldn't resist checking this and it seems to be true (if you mean no RNT checks that you actually risk failing)... but if so it's at least partly because this book allows you to use your Wizard's Staff and Magical Powers at no cost. See for instance: www.projectaon.org/xhtml/gs/03btng/sect78.htmwww.projectaon.org/xhtml/gs/03btng/sect148.htmArgh. And these we missed when publishing the online version...

It's my favourite book because the outcome doesn't depend so much on luck, but more on skill and intelligence (as befits a Wizard's quest).
I love the climax where you go up against the Jahksa.

Yep, I finally decided to play this series (I was waiting for the fourth book to go online so that I could play the whole series in one night) and book 3 is indeed easy, so I guess it's the easiest book of the GS series. But I still think that FftD is the easiest book of the LW series.

GS b3 easy?! . You can get killed through prettu random methods in that book. Bk 4 is very easy, since you can be reckless and don't have to think too much, and still make it easily. The easiest lone wolf book would either be 13 or 4. Niether requires much though or too many tough combats (except maybe for the dude at the end of bk 4, but if you have the sommersword or give him some h2oly you'll be fine)

Grey Star books aren't simpler than Lone Wolf books; their gameplay style is less balanced. You can restore yourself a lot, and after little time you die because you must fight an impossibile enemy (see the Kleasa)... In the Lone Wolf serie, if you've played all the books the easiest is n.20 - The Curse of Naar - : an almost-Supreme Kai Master is hard to defeat... The New Order serie are easier than the Lone Wolf books; I think n.28 - The Hunger of Sejanoz - is the easiest, shortest and worst book of the entire saga.

I always thought Caverns of Kalte were exceptionally easy. Well, i absolutely disagree with you !! Don't your remember the Languabarb ? One wound and you die ! Unless you are lucky enough to get the Blu Triangle before (1 chance out of 5 !!) If you consider each book being played with a new created character (no sommerswerd then), the easiest is without any doubt book 1 : if you choose the right ways and the good disciplines, you have only two fights to make (and quite esay ones), and no other chance to die : BurrowCrawler CS 17 EP 7 Giak + Doomwolf CS 15 EP 24
