Starting a new Lone Wolf game usings the latest Lone Wolf Multiplayer rules. www.rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=44864&date=1294789293I have two campaigns in mind for the same story line, one starts in Sommerlend, the other in Durenor. Looking for 4-5 players for each Campagin. Here is the game into, hope you like The year is 5072 MS, and the end of the great Darklord War is coming to a close, the last of their armies, leaderless with the destruction of Helgedad. The damage the war has wroth is nearly healed, and a new cadre of Kai Lord and Masters journey forth into the world, restoring ancient ties that were destroyed when the order nearly was wiped out oh those years ago back in 5050 MS. Still, while the threat of the Darklords is gone, it does not mean Naar sits upon idle hands. Rumors are whispered in the wind, and winter comes early this year with ferocity unheard of in well over a century. Already the Kalte packice forms, driving a icy wedge between Sommerlund and Duernor. A large winter storm stirs on the horizon, and it will take a new wave of heroes to help bring an end to...the Black Ice.

I wouldn't mind, to say the least, to become a Kai Lord (or other character) once again. Unfortunately I haven't acquired LW MPGB (& HoM), yet . If you're still looking for players by the time I get my hands on those books (could be very soon but nothing's 100% sure at the moment) I'll be definitely in.

I have a nice summary on the game site for whatever character you want to be. If you know how to play the normal Lone Wolf books, then you'll have no issue. Come check it out.

Yeah, I'd argue that the new LW system is exactly built for the ease of picking the rules up quickly and concentrating on ropleplaying. Especially the Kai Lord, which a few healing quirks, etc aside is exactly as the gamebooks. Plus you've been checking out Zipp's game so have seen the rules in action anyway

Sorry guys but for this game is pretty much black and white. I want the players to be the good guys, that means no evil classes. Also the bulk of adventure is taking place in far Northern Magnamund, the Dessi and the Valkeros rarely ventured outside of Dessi, so it is a bit of a stretch
Available classes are
Border Ranger Brotherhood Mage Dwarven Gunner Herbwarden Kai Lord Knight of the White Mountain Sommerlending Knight of the Realm
Other classes from the HoM book might be open at a later date, but not for the start of the game.

Ghuntar: Lol, indeed you could play a 'mumbling witch' BCS or something! The Magician of Dessi was pretty similar to a Shianti. So you can always play a relative of your Dessi character to start with, then swap over later. Heck, even if your first character dies, your Magician would have a good excuse to be invested with the remaining party! @askati: You and your evil classes! Players can't backstab each other all the time. Though yes, the Helghast Agent in action would have been sweet to see! @blackstone: I'm a little dubious about my ability to commit to a game right now, but since it sounds like you'll be continuing it for a while, or starting a second story, I might ask to join later on if that's ok?

Beowuuf, no problem.
Here is my take on Evil in the wold of Magnamund. Most of the evil there is either the Neutral Evil or Chaotic Evil type. Either in it for themselves, or in it for pure wanton bloodlust and destruction. This suits most of the evil groups in the world, from the Acolytes of Vashna, the Darklords, the Drakkarim. While they are good for working together for short term gains, eventually they are self-destructive, eventually they betray one another, eventually their own evil spells their doom.
It's hard to sustain a game like that when that is the eventual outcome where all it degenerates is into a free for all killing other PC's. The goal and the mission isn't incentive enough, and in the end player's feelings get hurt.
About the only groups that don'tt fit the mold would be the Cenernse and the Shadikine Empire. I see them more as Lawful Evil. They have a driving purpose and goal, and willing to support one another to see that goal and mission through. Betrayal is not something done at every turn, but a critical juncture to make the most effect, and because it is what is good for the goal, and the PC as well.
I could see a long term evil campaign with those groups, but none of the other groups introduced have the long term group stamina. Eventually their own petty and selfish nature is their own undoing, and a good group of heroes can take advantage of that. Like Lone Wolf did in Masters of Darkness, able to use the fractious nature of Darklord alligences to sneak in and deal a blow from which they could never recover.

I pretty much agree with you (both as the nature of playing evil characters in any RPGs and evilin the LW setting) and is always my default feeling on the subject. That said, a while back a pretty stable evil game was run using turned Kai as the Lawful Evil portion, and Neutral evil characters teamed up with them. Sadly our GM disappeared, but the game had legs and had been a blast. Similarly, Askati is running a few of us throughour paces in a Cener-spearheaded game. I had been dubious at the time, but the group we have is very good (good enough we can actually be evil to each other and still hold the game together!). Even though all the characters have (as our GM pointed out) tried to do horrible or uncaring things to each other within 24 game hours, as a group of players we seem to do ok. Ish. It helps askhati has a decent amout of evil classes listed, so of course if someone does murder your character (and they are evil, so not sympathetic to play) then you can just roll up another and start some payback! I'm not sure if my links on RPoL were deleted before you had a chance to see them (didn't notice the non-game linking policy) rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=42545&date=1294951056rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=42325&date=1294947890rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=39847&date=1294947165The first is the evil game, the second two are normal games currently running

Saw the other two games. Issue is they seem to be full up on players, so if people are on waiting lists for those games, and want to play, go ahead and look at mine. Right now only have 2 approved characters (1 GM controlled) and 2 others actively working on an concept
