Hello all, Been rather busy recently so not had the time to be on here but I have finally found, after much searching, Joe Dever's appearance on Children's Saturday morning TV show Motormouth (as mentioned in Newsletter 20). At the time this was a big deal - the UK only had 4 channels back then and RPG's were nothing like as widespread and mainstream as today. I think the explosion of console games is what we have to thank as well as the natural evolution of the hobby. In the main clip, you can see a tabletop battlescene of the events at the end of The Darke Crusade, just wanted to share it with anyone who hasn't seen it yet. As a side note, if you are on Facebook, be sure to send Joe a friend request - he is sending out new information, answering questions and giving special Lone Wolf offers out all the time. Best regards Richard Penwarden.

Wonder if I can still enter the competition?

Wow ! The Lencia model is incredibly impressive. And Joe painted them all himself ?!? That is some amazing work there. Just goes to show that the books are only one portion of Magnamund, he's running battle scenarios in head (and on the models) as he's writing. (Maybe that's a bit of a stretch...since he wrote the Darke Crusade before this TV show, but still...).

Remember he created Magnamund as a world in which he and his friends could play Dungeons and Dragons in. His every waking moment would have been consumed by it since he was a teenager. He mentions in the clip it took him 20 years to paint all the models, and I believe him. He sometimes sells painted models on Ebay!

I can't believe I missed this thread somehow! Thank you for finding this TV clip; I've been looking for it for ages. I haven't looked at it yet, but I've downloaded it so I'm sure I will soon. What about Joe's other (alleged?) TV appearance, on GamesMaster? Did he actually appear (as the Newsletters claim he would), and if so, do you have a video of that show as well?
