You are Cal Phoenix, the Freeway Warrior, champion and protector of Dallas Colony One. The final stage of your life-or-death exodus to the California coast is fraught with extraordinary dangers—breakdowns, rockfalls, and unexplained deaths. Can you unravel the mystery that surrounds your journey, or will you perish without trace in the wastelands of Arizona? www.projectaon.org/en/Main/CaliforniaCountdownThis is the last book in Joe Dever's series of post-apocalyptic Freeway Warrior gamebooks. This is also the last book on the list that Joe Dever asked us to publish over 15 years ago. We have completed our quest to share these wonderful books with the world! But our adventures are not yet over. We at Project Aon will continue our work. We have lots of plans that we've been holding in reserve until we finished publishing the books. We are grateful that you have shared this journey with us and hope you will share with us the road ahead. For Dallas Colony One, and For Sommerlund and the Kai! Jonathan Blake Project Aon

I always found it hillarious that Joe Dever, a Englishman, created such an "American" character. Cal Phoenix, Dallas One Colony, traveling from Texas to California...
An ode to days of old traveling "out west" for a better life.
My hat's off to him, for understanding us Americans.

A truly great accomplishment. 15 years of constant focus. Never quit, never gave up. Joe Dever chose well. Thank you all so much.

A belated but heartfelt and massive THANK YOU for finishing the Freeway Warrior series. I enjoy Lone Wolf, but FW is my true nostalgic love of Joe's works. I still remember buying HH, TOZ and CC just before my first year of highschool from a school book supply shop years after I'd already read some LW in primary school.
I didn't get to read SMR until just ten years or so ago, thanks to Amazon (it kinda bugs me still that my cover for that one doesn't match my other tattered paperbacks) so I've read (and know) the other three books many more times than that one (which was quite harrowing on my first read, especially the second half).
Having all four books in the Project Aon format (which I consider the best way to experience these books, even compared to the amazing gamebook apps like Tinman Games' Fighting Fantasy offerings) is just wonderful.
