I think the title is pretty self-explaining:
Does the use of Kai-Ray or Kai-Blast replace the attack action (so if Lone Wolf chooses to use one of the Psychic attacks, he must forfeit the "physical" attack), or can they be used in conjunction with a PHYSICAL attack (I know, since it is clearly stated, that they cannot be used together with any other PSYCHIC attack; however, the books seem to fail to mention the rules for using Psychic and Physical attacks together)
Thanks for the help guys

No, you roll for combat like usual.

I always assumed physical attack came with it. but that is only what I did and not reading the rules recently with fresh perspective.

Kai-Blast always seemed like a waste of time- the effect of losing kai-surge was more damaging than any damage it did.

Yes. It can be used together with physical attack. Every combat turn, you choose whether or not you use Kai-blast. If you do, you cannot use any psychic bonuses during that turn (Mindblast, Psi-surge, Kai Surge), but instead add 2*RNT damage to opponent (0=1) and you lose additional 4 EP. You can choose to use Kai-ray in one turn (once in a combat). If you do, that turn you cannot use psychic bonuses, enemy gets 15 damage and you lose 4 EP. Kai-Blast always seemed like a waste of time- the effect of losing kai-surge was more damaging than any damage it did. Disagree. Once in book 17 I managed to kill injured Tagazin within two rounds just because of it - some additional 30 damage in two rounds.
