Back in the mists of time, I attended one of Joe Dever's Battledays. He took some photos: The battlefield:

Wow, some really awesome stuff !!!
By any chance do you remember information on this?
Like where the battle is supposed to take place, who the king (I assume the guy with the crown) is fighting?
Where / what the church is?
The strange obelisk is that Banedon(?) is pointing to?
Cool stuff, thanks for posting !

Koreth, If you are interested in this sort of thing, have you ever read the Warhammer Fantasy Battle scenario called ' Thistlewood'? It is to be found in White Dwarf 45 and is a scenario for WFB (1st edition) written by Joe Dever. Though not set in Magnamund it probably gives a good idea as to how Joe liked to run these games. You should be able to find a scanned copy on the net. Blood Bath at Orc's Drift was written by Dever, Chalk and Page. More specific to Lone Wolf, check out the magazine called GM (The Independent Fantasy Roleplaying Magazine) Volume 1 Number 8. It contains pictures and an account of a battleday.

The Thistlewood scenario is reproduced in the Lone Wolf Miscellaneous 2 file on the Project Aon website. Starts on page 90. Hope it helps

These are great pictures. I'm really glad I got to see them.
You and I are about the same age. I discovered the Lone Wolf books in a small-town bookstore in the United States. I saw Joe Dever's name on the covers of the books, but I never saw a picture of him or bothered to imagine what he might look like. You got to participate in a way that never occurred to me at the time.
I bought a copy of the Magnamund Companion back in the day, and I couldn't understand why so much of it was devoted to pictures of miniatures and models. Years later I learned about tabletop war games like Warhammer, but I didn't put the two things together at the time. I never knew that Dever played war games in the Magnamund setting until I read about it here on Project Aon recently. I just figured that Dever was deeply into the details of his world and that he like to build models.
The war games also explain why he put so much thought into the battle flags for every different country, which never came up in the books very much.
Was this Dever's house?
It's the address where everyone was supposed to send correspondence for the Lone Wolf Club newsletter. I am just curious about it.
Edit: Corrected an error. I meant to say I never saw a picture of him.

That's the address down in Corfe Way, Dorset, yes? If so I'm pretty certain that that cannot be the Dever house because as I recall he lived near Brentwood in Essex, which is miles and miles away and to the east of London.
I've no idea. It could have been a holiday home of his (if he had one?), or simply belong to someone who ran the fanclub.

Thanks again, ryhgar. You already pointed out in another thread that I wasn't looking at the correct house, so at least now I have the correct house for the address. And I have a vague idea that he lived near Brentwood. And I know from this thread what his gaming room looked like.
I wonder who would have run the newsletter if it wasn't Dever himself. It seemed to be someone who knew him at least. The newsletter claimed to give out official answers about the facts of the world.
I guess it's no matter. I was just following my curiosity. I don't really need to know the answers.
