I'm the only one who always believed they were small like birds or bats until I payed attention to the sect. 49 illustration from book 18 and noticed they are actually biggers than a Kai warrior? I estimate that they should to size at least 2 meters or so.

Well, they do have ridiculous Combat Skills in the fifties, so small bats or birds were somewhat improbable… ^_^
What I didn't catch (not until long after I had first read the book) was that Lavas is meant to be singular too. I used to imagine actual lava monsters, like one Lava, two Lavas.

I also thought the Lavas were like big flying nasty birds with very hard skin. However, I know why I was under that impression. Look at the section 347 illustration from The Deathlord of Ixia. www.projectaon.org/en/xhtml/lw/17tdoi/ill20.htmThey are smaller than Tagazin! They did have a major growth spurt between books 17 and 18.
