Hello! I'm new to this forum, but a long time fan of Joe Dever's work. First off - Thanks, PA guys and gals for taking time to resurrect this excellent series and for maintaining such and excellent site! I do have a question though regarding the books. I've just recently completed Shadow on the Sand and am now starting Kingdoms of Terror (only died twice so far ). However, i've noticed that now I choose three Magankai abilites, the kai powers I previously possessed seem redundant. Should I still be adding 1 Endurance per paragraph for my old Hunting power, or adding +2 CS form my old weaponskill in Mace. Are these powers simply forgotten or redundant in the magnakai series? thanks in advance for any help! Cheers, Fryearle

Hi there, Fryearle. Welcome to the forums! Quite a number of posters have asked the same question in the past (we should probably come up with a 'sticky' post regarding these questions), since the books are a bit vague. I think this post will help. Scroll down to my post (#5 or #6), and it tells you the rules for advancing as Joe himself has stated in the Lone Wolf Club Newsletters. Hope it helps!

Bah! Just as I was in the process of replying to this question along comes Outspaced and steals my thunder! Oh well, the important thing is that the question is answered, not who answers it... I guess all that's left to say is: "Greetings, Fryearle, and welcome to Project Aon."

No, no! I didn't mean anything like that! Search is a nice function, but the questions you posed are equally valid now as they were a year ago since the rules in the books are rather vague. A rules 'sticky' might help collect all these pieces of information together into one easy-to-find place, which can't be a bad thing! ;D Our (unwritten) motto is to be the politest, most friendly forum on the 'net, so please feel free to post.

Much appreciated. ;D
This whole site is awesome, couldn't believe it when I found it - all the game books in one place, and legal!
Definitely getting me a copy of the D20 RPG.
The last time i picked a LW book was back in the early 90s - my brother had these 'strange' books and as soon as I saw the art work and read the intro, I was hooked. Dungeons of Torgar i think it was.
Can't wait to get to that one (four more to go!). The extra weaponskill and mind blast will help!
cheers again

And you needn't worry about flaming on this site. If you ever have tales of woe from other sites which have flamed you, come post em at me.
I'm always coming here to complain about other forums.
~Zipp, who has finally stopped visiting other forums, besides the Mac Forum

Just read the handbook and wanted to add some stuff. Nowhere did I find any discussion on using dual wield, pro's and cons, and how to do it,since it seems many do? If it it supposed to give some advice on how other have interpreted the rules it might be a good idea? I actually have never done it and havent realyl understood how its supposed to work second, saw one thing that being a tutelor in weaponmastery gives you +2 when using range weapons, does that stack with the 3 you get if you choose bow as one of your weapons? adding 5? Would be hard to miss then but being at that level you probably wouldnt miss, adding durenor bow and you have to pick a zero to be able to miss anything Adding to my last posting I may sound like it's "that time of the month" but it isnt

The Rules Handbook is designed to explain how to use the existing rules as stated rather than adding any "house rules", though this may be introduced in the future, dependant on time and availability. As it is, the RH hasn't been updated for over two years. As for Dual-wielding, try this discussion. Personally, I've never seen anything in the original books to allow or even hint at dual-wielding, but a lot of Lone Wolf fans seem to have implemented rules for it. Hope it helps. (And don't forget the Midol. )

Ah, that dual weapons thread brings back some rather unpleasant memories of unnecessary and annoying smart-arseness by a certain unnamed individual, doesn't it?
