I have been pondering the way the combat system works, and after playing D&D for the last year or so I have started to believe that LW's combat system is probably the most realistic system there is, and in such a simple format too!
Any thoughts?
BTW, does Mongoose's RPG take any of the combat elements from the books or is it just a straight rip from the D20 system?

I highly disagree. The system is simplistic, yes, but there's no way it is near to a real combat. You just don't have the strategic options available to you in a real combat. Also, you may notice that theives in the GM series could easily kill the Darklords in the kai series. This is because Joe had to drastically boost the combat statistics to make up for the beast that Lone Wolf had become. So: simplisitc and effective, yes. But that right there stops it from being a realistic simulator. Life is complex, and there is almost no way to simulate it with simple sets of rules.

As for Lone Wolf d20, it does both. It is patterned after the combat system, but it is a lot simpler and has a unique psionics system.
