I wonder why there aren't any elves on Magnamund... certainly there are ample elf-haters among the RPG community, maybe Joe's one of them.

I've heard it rumored that the Drakkarim were based off Dark Elves.

Dark elves eh? Drakkarim seem a bit too brutish and ugly for any kind of elf, but maybe I'm wrong.

I usually thought of Drakkars as being the more intelligent, slaves of Naar, I don't know if similar to elves in appearance, but similar in their intelligence. The whole idea of entire races being evil...I wonder if Lone Wolf ever encounted any single good guys from the Giaks, Drakkarim or the rest? Well I only know of Carag from the Legends of Lone Wolf books. Carag ended up helping Lone Wolf didn't he?

As much as I like elves of all different breeds and genres, I have to admit that I like the fact that JD did not put them into Magnamund. Part of it stems from the way elves 'always' have hidden knowledge, artifacts, magic, whatever... But basically Magnamund has a completly different flavour to any other gaming world, (no orcs, no elves) the ideas of how people's migrated around the continent.
Drakkar are a brutish and heavy set people, maybe it's there arrogance, ruthless nature and basic disregard for anything of beauty that is based on dark elves ( just my thoughts)...
I just remembered a quote from a novel about dwarves, 'A dwarf's place is underground, several hundred feet under the ground'...I don't know about dwarves being under humans, there is still stuff that only dwarves can do (Bor Brew and all )

I really don't think the war can ever end. I think it's all part of the balance between good and evil. What's a hero without a nemesis? And what is a nemesis without a hero? They truly live in symbiosis. Agreed. This is how all the good books/good movies are written.

I always found the simplistic poles of Good & Evil in much Fantasy a bit stultifying-no matter how many tyrants you depose, how powerful or wise you become, how many battles you win, how many artifacts you rescue The Balance must always remain, or there will be some kind of Apocalypse. All very religious, it'd be nice to adventure in a World with the possibility of real change!

I thought Drakkarim were supposed to be human...like, evil humans. I love to hate Drakkarim for that reason. Giaks and Kraan and whatnot are just spawn of Naar that can't control themselves, but Drakkarim are, like, humans that could have been good, but they're evil instead. I tend to go out of the way to kill Drakkarim.

I thought Drakkarim were supposed to be human...like, evil humans. They are humans and, like you said, on the evil side. Me, I've always seen them as a different type of human, like the Neanderthal (Homo neanderthalensis) was different than the Cro-Magnon (Homo sapiens), but both species lived together for a certain period of time.

'human but not of human stock' which bears that out really.
Then again, Dessi people have cat-like eyes!
