This fan-made gamebook is available on the French website Xhoromag of our buddy Oiseau and was published in 2007. However, I didn't know that the author was looking for illustrators.

The author wasn't looking for illustrators. The guy doing the illustrations took it upon himself to do them, seeing as Les Sabres d'Eshnar (The Swords of Eshnar) won the annual Yaztromo prize for best French amateur gamebook of 2007. It's meant to be the first in a series called Gloire Posthume (Posthumous Glory) featuring a Sommerlund teen named Joan.
Oddly enough, the adventure is told in the first-person (I woke up that morning...), up to and including the deaths, whereas the choices are presented in third-person (will Joan attack the bandit...) and the turn-to instructions are given in the usual imperative second-person form (rendez-vous au...). It makes for an interesting gamebook experience. ^_^
It's rather good, I might add. It you can read French, give it a go. Or try one of the 131 other gamebooks on the site.
