The channel is here: irc.chat-solutions.org #lonewolf
I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum or not. Anyway, would anyone be interested in having a Project Aon IRC chat room to visit? Yeah, our member list is still small, but if even half of the top 20 posters frequented the channel, it would be worth having around, IMO. I'd definitely like a place to go to chat live with other LW fans.
Now, if you guys like the concept and want to go through with it, it's ideal that the board admin register the channel and give out ops and whatnot, but if Thomas is too busy to lurk around in chat, I can act as founder. I know a little bit about how to run an IRC channel (it's all just knowing the commands, really). In that case, I'd want to appoint one SOP and maybe two or three AOPs to keep the place in order. Again, preferrably mods from this forum, unless they can't be bothered to babysit a chat room.
Good idea or bad idea? Pour upon this thread your thoughts and opinions.

Wow. . . OFX, you read my mind. I was thinking this would be cool earlier. I'd certainly be all for it, even though I don't know what SOP's, AOP's and IRC's are. I'd definitely visit! ;D

IRC is a chat system...
I think an IRC channel would be really cool...I would probably come by every once in a while, but not be on very often (dialup Internet...)

It sounds like a very good idea to me. I love project aon with all my heart. Before I found this webpage I thought that I was the only person in the entire world who ever even heard of Lone Wolf. It is so great to be able to interact with others who praise the series.

Sorry to sound so dry and dismissive all the time, but this is not within the project's scope. Project Aon publishes electronic editions of the books. Even these boards crossed the border within hours of their creation. ;D But don't worry, we are way too happy to see them flourishing to try to restrict their content.
Anyway, what would the point of a Project Aon chat be? Discuss workarounds for CSS bugs in a popular web browser from a largish Redmond, WA based company? Naa. Replace that with a Lone Wolf chat, and we are talking business.
I don't have time to help out with this, but if someone else sets up a permanent IRC channel, I might drop in now and then, and perhaps some of the other Project Aon workhorses might do as well. Feel empowered - as long as you remember that Lone Wolf © TM Joe Dever 1984-2004, Kai will be with you. ;D

I'd drop by; I'm filled with a burst of nostalgia for LW right now.

Okay, it's done.
irc.chat-solutions.org #lonewolf
You'll need an IRC client (mIRC, Trillian, etc.) to get on the server. Just start your client, and type the following:
/server irc.chat-solutions.org /join #lonewolf
You may choose or change your nickname by typing /nick [name]
Hope to see all of you there!

HELLLLLLLLLLLLP! After trying for half an hour, unsuccessfully I might add, I could not figure out how to sign up. The only options I saw were "site administrator" and "user administrator", and neither one would let me "start a client". I'm not so computer savvy, so if anyone can give me some help here, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I should be there this evening, if I remember...(I'm in the USA, so it won't be evening to British or other members)

Okay, first of all, when I say "client" I'm just talking about a program that lets you access IRC channels. You need one to get to the room, since you can't access the chat-solutions.org server from the web right now. So, go here and download the program. Once it's installed (there are directions on the site on how to do it), start the program. It'll automatically try to connect to a server, but you can ignore that. Just type the commands that are in my previous post into the little bar at the bottom. If all goes well, you should end up on the channel.

We should schedule chat times to increase the number of people online at once...I went on yesterday, and was the only one in the chat.

Permission denied, can't get in room . and can only connect using webirc . Don't know what's going on there. There's something wrong on your end. The room isn't private or invite-only - it's open to everyone. We should schedule chat times to increase the number of people online at once...I went on yesterday, and was the only one in the chat. I'll be around in the late evening/early morning. 11pm to 2 or 3am, usually. I'm on in the afternoons sometimes, but I can't give a specific time since my work schedule varies from day to day. So far I've chatted with two people - Cadak and Banedon. Hope to see more of you around.

I can't be on at 11pm-3am because of this thing called "sleep"...unlike everyone else in the world, I'm not nocturnal.
