As I packed all my stuff in boxes before I moved house, I deliberately put everything indiscriminately and quickly in boxes so that I wouldn't spend time poring over all my past and miss the movers.
Missing in Action
As I'm unpacking it now, I can't help but feel a tinge of sadness as to how the gamebook genre has all but disappeared. Who knew that that would happen? I now thinkingg back to two STUPID things I did: 1. Many a time for some stupid reason now forgeotten I'd delay buying a book figuring there'd always be time later. So what happened? 2. I lent books to 'friends' who never returned them, and have now escaped from my clutches forever.
Lone Wolf Book 7: Castle Death never bought Bloodsword Book 5 (the conclusion!!!) never bought Sorcery Series - Book 1: The Shamutanti Hills never bought Falcon - Book 1: missing
Hence glaring and very painful omissions now that I'm laying them on the shelf. I've got very little hair left. After tonight I might end up tearing what's left of it out.
Anyone else have an IF ONLY or WHY DIDN'T tale of sadness and woe? Commiserate with me!

Sure I do, but that's why we have eBay!
I bought a whole bunch of old gamebooks from yore this year on eBay, because:
a) I have enough money for them now that I'm not dependent on my parents for income, and
b) I wanted to complete collections or collect some that I had never played to begin with.

I did a stupid thing when I was younger. In my local library, they had all the Grey Star books (in the French version, the name is Astre d'Or). I thought: "Hum...Astre d'Or? Never heard of him before...I'll stick with Lone Wolf!" And so, I ignored completely that series and I played many others (FF, Cretan Chronicles, etc). A few years later, I was reading the Buccaneers of Shadaki and there was that mention of Grey Star. That is at that very moment that I figured out that the GS series was related to Magnamund! That was five years ago and it was my first mistake. My second mistake happened when I decided to buy all the books of the GS series. I went to my bookstore and saw that they had books 1 and 2 for sale. I decided to wait until all 4 books to be available at the same time in that store to buy them together. Big mistake! That was the last time that I was seeing a book of the GS series! I know that the LW series is still available here, but I was expecting the same thing with the GS series and it didn't happened. Luckily, PA are now putting the books online and, if I am not owning them, I can at least read them.

If it makes you feel any better, I live in America, where only the abridged versions are available.

Yes, that's what I meant. Maybe that wasn't clear. I don't even own all of the Grey Stars.
