I'm thinkin' of starting a progressive metal/rock-death metal band, and using the Lone Wolf books as the lyrical stuff. If ya don't like death metal, or any of the metal, or rock, or whathaveyou, it's cool too. ;D

Wouldn't you kinda struggle to hear the lyrics anyway over the frantic thrashing of the music? Which vocalist were you thinking of emulating? I could see Iron Maiden pulling off an epic about the quest for the Lorestones in some 10-minute number, complete with lightning-quick guitar solos for the second half of SotS, chanting monks for Castle Death and some wierd instrumental bit for PoT.
Edited because apparently having a euphemism for male genitalia as part of your surname is not allowed on the boards. No discussing Tale of Two Cities for us then.

Sorry, but I just don't "get" metal at all.
I've tried listening to a few bands over the years, but all I hear is "CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA" and I can't help but think about pneumatic hammers. It's as if an entire musical genre was inspired by roadworks.
Edit - I should point out that I have absolutely no problem with other people enjoying this stuff, it's just that I don't understand the appeal.

>>Sorry, but I just don't "get" metal at all.<< There's lots of different styles of music within the "metal" umbrella, some of which I like very much, some of which just sounds like noise to me. Chances are you'd find something you like somewhere in the middle I'm sure. >>I've tried listening to a few bands over the years, but all I hear is "CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA-CHUGGA" and I can't help but think about pneumatic hammers. True. I'm sure any artist worthy of the name would prefer their work be loved by a minority than "quite liked" by the majority.

System of a Down made a song based on the Legend of Zelda, so go ahead and give it a try. But just remember: while Legend of Zelda has the Overworld Theme that everyone knows (and that is clearly audible in the System's song), LW doesn't have a soundtrack, so whatever you might create, the melody might not "sound like LW" for a lot.

Firstly, the Zelda song was not by System. It was by some talented Serge wannabe, done in his basement. And secondly, you'd understand lyrics and stuff if you'd read the lyrics. (c=

Firstly, the Zelda song was not by System. It was by some talented Serge wannabe, done in his basement. And secondly, you'd understand lyrics and stuff if you'd read the lyrics. (c= Firstly, you are right: this song was made by a group called Rabid Joint (or something similar), but when I have found it (thanks to napsters), it was listed as a SoaD song. I didn't go through further research at that time and thought it was something that had been made by the group in their earlier years. Secondly, whatever you might write in your songs, whatever if it is understandable without reading the lyrics, whatever if it is punk, ska, gangsta rap, pop, hip-hop, emo, jazz there will still be people that will say it doesn't sound like LW at all, that doesn't have the feeling into it. Just telling you, but this shouldn't stop you. Make it for yourself, and who cares what the others are saying! ;D

( @ Zipp: Personally my favourite "song from a computer game theme" is also on OCRemix: "Mix Dizz" from one of the Dizzy games (which one depends on what system you're playing the games on). I always thought it was a rather cool tune way back on the Spectrum 128K (sigh, I'm getting old) and the remix is well orchestrated and the song is darn funny!)
BC, I like the idea of a ska Lone Wolf song.
"Limbdeath (ba-ba) Limbdeath, they call it Limbdeath (ba-ba, dum-dum, ba-ba) Limbdeath (ba-ba) Limbdeath, they call it Limbdeath (ba-ba, dum-dum, ba-ba) There is no (ba) other term (ba-ba) For an Oede-hating, flesh-eating germ (ba-ba) Limbdeath (ba-ba) Limbdeath, turns into full death."
(I don't "get" metal either >_< )

Ehh... not everyone gets metal.... but get this, a few months ago, I was in Kentucky visiting my grandparents' farm, and we were driving down the road one day.... my grandpappy turns on the radio - he's a country-lovin' foo' - and flips it to a hard rock station. I was like, "Uh, Pappy, you're listening to rock music now huh?" He said, "Yeah, I figger I should listen to all kinds of stuff 'fore I die." The man is like, 90. And he can't drive. My grandma's always having to complain about the road or she'll say, "Bill, turn that down, I got a headache!" LoL

Just another one on the list of possibilities, though not wholly related to Lone Wolf . . .
A friend of mine came round earlier, and we got to wallowing in nostalgia (while watching The IT Crowd) so I fired up the old PC and we spent a couple of hours downloading computer game music from the Amstrad CPC, Spectrum 128K and Amiga, as well as some game remixes. We reckon there's probably money in setting up a "Geek Nightclub" where computer game music and remixes are played. You can Boogie on to Bionic Commando, get down to Golden Axe, swing out to Shadow of the Beast, and trip out to Turrican 2.
Any thoughts?

That is so crazy that I can see someone really doing that and setting up a "Geek Nightclub". But what would call the place? "Vice and Dice", or something simple like "Geeks" or "Nerds".
