Haven't seen any progress on the next books in the Lone Wolf series, just wondering if Seventh Sense is till being worked on and if there is anything new to report. I LOVE this program! It brings Lone Wolf back to life for me and I can't wait to jump into the next books.

Have no fear, folks. I DO still work on Seventh Sense, and the next version is sure to please many of you. Real life just keeps getting in the way. But it only slows the progess, never halts it. (I'm glad you like the software, jabberwock. It always warms my heart when someone spends their first post on something about Seventh Sense... )

Well, I was inspired by jabberwock's post to actually get some work done. If anyone is interested in helping the new release to happen faster than it would otherwise, I could use some help in the "combat pics" thread, pi4t got off to a great start, but only did the first couple of books. If someone could pick up where he left off, it would be very helpful, and make the next release come just that much sooner...

Yes, do exactly what pi4t did. Scan through the book - indentifying all combats. Then make a note of which combats have actual illustrations in the book (and filename of illustration), and then scan the rest of the illustrations in the book for possible useful images (combat related). Lastly, document it in that other thread. That would be very helpful.

Hi there
I would really like to help but not sure what to do. I own the originals 1-20 as well as regularly visit the Aon site. I own a printer scanner (if that helps) and have some time on my hands. Any chance I could get involved, and if so what would I need to do? Is it book 6 your working on now I take it? Let me know.
Thanks.
Update: Ignore all that. Lol.

Update? What % of the way to the next update are you?

Hmmm. A percentage would be a false indicator, a sort of placebo to make you think you're closer than you actually are. I still have a very few basic coding things left, and then I will resume work on making book 6 fully functional (still stopped at the Bow contest... I'll have to do some custom coding for that one!)
You'll be glad to note that the renewed activity on the forum has sparked my creative impulses, and I've been spending more time working on Seventh Sense lately than I have in a while.
All item pics are incorporated, I've done a couple of books worth of combat pics, and I added a feature where you can see the medals earned by the different profiles without going in-game to see them on the action chart.
mckinstry has come up with a couple of beautiful medals to use in the awards. I'll get those worked in, and see if I can't post a pic or two of the new stuff.

Hello! I played Lone Wolf more than 20 years ago. When I found out about Project Aon, I started playing, but keeping track of all the stats and battles myself just isn't what it was back in the eighties. I find it too cumbersome and slow, and with precious little time on my hand, that was an important factor in my decision to NOT walk down memory lane in this particular instance. But a couple of days ago I finally got Seventh Sense to work on my laptop. Now, this makes all the difference in the world. A book takes two hours or less to play through. I keep admiring how well the interface is designed. Dave has struck a delicate balance between automating key elements and keeping the feeling that you do things yourself (pressing red buttons). I just love this software and I can't wait till the Magnakai books are available. I guess all of the above is a polite way of saying: speed it up! Seriously, I think there is a large silent majority waiting for book 6 to be playable on Seventh Sense. Keep up the good work! There are many things I'd like to say about your software but I'll save it for some other post.

Thanks for your kind words, niko. I'm glad that you enjoy the program. That's exactly the balance I tried to strike - one where the user feels like they are still involved in making the changes happen on the action chart, but having all the tedious stuff be taken care of for you. I'm happy to hear that it was that way for you. Sometime, I'd love to hear your other comments.
-----
For the silent majority (and not-so-silent minority), you'll be pleased to note that I resumed some work on Seventh Senes this past weekend, and worked out book 6's Archery contest. It's working really great - the only hang-up I have is whether or not I should take the trouble to figure out a way to make the player lose 2 real EP per round if they use Psi-surge. (right now, your EP score is converted to virtual "target points"... I guess it wouldn't be too hard to come up with some tracking thing... OK, I'll do it.)
Other than that issue described above, the contest is working fabulously. You can change your archery contest gameplay rules while on that page, and it updates your CS score automatically, so you can see what it'll be for the contest.
Also, I included 3 options for Weaponmastery with Bow. #1) You can add +3 CS bonus (the default) #2) You can add +3 to RN picked (7,8,9 becomes 0, and a picked zero remains zero) #3) You can add +3 damage each round
It works really well. When you start the combat, your EP becomes 50, and when you go to the next section, it's restored to the score that you had before the combat. So, once I get the whole "real EP" tracking for Psi-surge worked in, I'm ready to move on in converting book 6! Yay!

That's great news!
I'd like to add some comments to my previous ones. Your meticulousness is incredible. "By the book" really means "by the book". So much work must have gone into this program. The elimination of the risk of giving oneself an unfair advantage by mistake (something that always worries me when playing manually) is, I think, the greatest strength of the program. It just frees so much mental energy, that can be spent on appreciating the story and the fantastic look of the presentation.
I find one thing strange though. I cannot believe many players would prefer playing online without any tool (or maybe just with a stats chart) before using Seventh Sense, given the opportunity to compare the two. Seventh Sense should be presented on the AON site as THE preferred way to experience LW on the computer. As it is now, one has to navigate a lot of links and handle technical problems (it's an unfortunate fact that the first LW book won't play on SS. It takes some forum-reading to solve the problem. I think SS loses a lot of potential players there) before being able to play SS.
I can't believe it's just you. There should be at least three or four other people helping/assisting you. But maybe that's not just possible.
