Rikku? Wasn't that the guy in Kingdom Hearts who started out as your best friend? Wish I hadn't missed the Yuffie avatar, she was a lot of fun in that game! @bc: Very cute, the Zipp-a-bomber! LOL! Well, I've said my piece, and finally caught up on threads. I'm going to bed! Yes and he regreted having the same name as the Rikku I'm talking about, from FFX. He got confused with that spunky, tight suit wearing girl just about every time someone spoke to him. Actually, it was only in America that this mattered, I can never remember which one it is, but one of the Rikku's is spelt Riku, with one K. In Japanese this changes the pronounciation slightly... plus one is defenitely a femenine name and the other masculine. Here's the pic I was using for my avatar, Rel: www.adventchildren.net/media/screens/official/official86.jpg

She's cute! Shame I can't be bothered with the games.
FWIW, the anime DNAngel has a female character called Riku.

Er, having seen the whole series, it's kinda the opposite . . . Daisuke has a crush on Risa (who is a bit of a "princess"), *** SPOILER *** but eventually realises, through Dark's machinations, that the girl for him is actually Riku, Risa's twin sister. I thought it was a nice twist on the standard anime 'romantic subplot' since Daisuke doesn't end up with the girl he likes at the start of the series. Despite what that site says, I never really picked up on Dark liking Riku. Maybe I missed something, but I think people are just reading more into Episode 1 than was really meant.

Aaaa...guess Zipp and I are not the only people who know something about final fantasy here. I thought none of you would have interest or knowledge to such an extent. I'm surprised Outspaced and Relenoir gave some feedback on this matter....

Rel? Naw, he always struck me as the video game type. I believe he's even kept up with the times, as he seems to own Metroid Prime Echoes (I'm with you, man, I can't beat that final boss! Any tips on the first form?)
And outspaced doesn't actually play. He's an anime fan, though!
Plus, I think I'm slowly shoving Black Cat towards the world of FF... with some help from others...

Zipp, that pic of Yuffie's from what scene? It looks familiar, like maybe it's on the Airship, but I'm not sure. I didn't think she was in the cinema scenes, because you don't need her to complete the game, and I don't think she's in the scenes at the end.Wow, didn't think I was the video game type? You haven't read enough of my posts then! As far as FF goes, I've been playing those since the original came out for the 8-bit Nintendo. I've finished 1, 4&6 (as 2 on Super NES), 5 from Anthology, 7 several times, and I played 8 to around the Lunatic Pandora (didn't like 8 much) and 9 to somewhere on the 3rd disc (I think I'm about to get the airship) but just haven't picked them up to play in awhile. I'd have to start 8 all over as I no longer have the memory card, and one of these days I'll get back to 9. I have 10, but want to finish others before starting a new one. Thanks for the words of validation Zipp! I've kept up with the times to a degree, just haven't had enough time to play (college, wife, work) often. I could look in the strategy guide, which I have, but I don't like to look at those until I've figured out the game on my own. As far as the first form of the last (?) boss, (spoiler): What I do is use the Annihilator beam against the tentacles to try to get rid of them quickly. If it starts doing that tentacle floor-sweeping routine, I Screw-Attack over it towards a corner wall. I use the same approach when it starts creating those inter-dimensional beams, but I just keep jumping all over the room. When the eye appears, I just strafe and jump sideways and try to catch the opening in the force-field with a Super Missile. I'm usually pretty close to dead by the time I beat the thing, but the next form gives you an opportunity to heal yourself. Hope it helps Zipp!

Ah the screw attack! Never thought to use that! Well, i must admit that I haven't played since buying Katamari Damacy (http://music.for-robots.com/archives/000567.html), but now I may go back and try it. It was pretty frustrating.
I'm with you in that I didn't love eight, but dear god why haven't you started 10! It's amazing!
Oh and that pic of yuffie... it's from the new movie. No way graphics were that good back when FF7 first came out.

Plus, I think I'm slowly shoving Black Cat towards the world of FF... with some help from others... Hehe, it's not that I wasn't interest in the games before. I've first heard of the series when FF7 came out (because of all the publicities they made), but since I thought that all the games where linked, I thought that it would be better for me to start with FF1 to fully understand the world of FF and to fully enjoy the references the games might have about the other ones. It is just now that I understand that the games are not linked to each other. Maybe I'll find an emulator on the net to play the other games. But, IMHO, nothing beats a good Zelda game! BTW, this is the second time that you use an avatar that someone else that I know uses. After the cat-burglar that was used by my friend, my sister uses Link as her avatar on the net. Try to find something that is more orginal!

I was joking of course, but now that you changed your avatar, I thought that Iggy was my alter ego when I was younger. probably because of the look I had back then...

Iggy does seem to be a popular one. I named a hamster after him once (who unfortunately met as bad an end as the actual Iggy). He was also one of two children who made it into that godforsaken Mario Brothers movie.
Gah, now I'm crying out in pain and fear as remembrances of that "film" comne back to me... what were they thinking?

You haven't read enough of my posts then! That is partially true, as I haven't log into this for a quite considerable time. And now I'm again being active lately. I just concentrate on this thread only ( The Books and the World) and only several time do I read from other thread Moreover, you have the most posts here in this forum!

Not only the most posts, but also far and away the most posts (except one). I said months ago that Relenoir has a campbed at these forums NS, self-appointed Relenoir II.

I've only played FF7, and was extremely underwhelmed by it. It's just not a good game. Distinctly average playability, distinctly average plot... Wouldn't get anywhere near my top 10 games.
Chrono Trigger is far superior.
