Well I always have Weaponskill, Hunting and Healing, so I'm generally confident enough to reluctantly doom Lord-Lieutenant Rhygar and take on the "Why don't they have weaknesses" Helghast NS. It's kind of waste though as Lord Rhygar still died although Lone Wolf gave him the magical spear. But if we player pity him so much, we may take chances by giving him the spear <----- I didn't do this......

But if we player pity him so much, we may take chances by giving him the spear Ahh, but that's the lesson you learn: pity is for the weak (or the tree-hugging Noodnic-loving hippies at least). Seriously, I'm with those who say the lesson is that your mission is the most important consideration. It's all noble and stuff to give up your one defence against the Helghast before going into the long dark tunnel, I'm sure, but really...

Hey hey hey! Lieutenant Ryhgar was way cool. A total bad ass. Total bad asses sohuld be given magical weapons so they don't die horrible deaths.
That was the way I saw it.
Of course, I rarely took animal kinship at all during the kai series, so it's a little hypocritical...

the thing i disliked most at book 2 was the fact it does not matter if you attack the right or wrong suspect person at the taverne ... you always get big trouble even if you attack the traitor. So it is recommend to attack the weakest. But overall a really great book edit: wasn"t book 2 the only book (have played till 12 so far) where you can"t win for sure? I remember a section with a 10 percent mortal you cannot pass over this section something was fallen down ...

Do you mean the only book with an unavoidable random die roll of death? Actually, no it is not. Other people can point you in the direction of other occurences, but I gotta head out to class.
Still, I think book 5 has one, when you are about to board the skyship. And Zahkan Kimah can be considered an encounter of death, as can the Chaos Master.

You're right about the instant death chance in Book 5. There's one in Book 4, as well, when you're running to Ruanon.
But man, I love it when those peasant types try to pick a fight with Lone Wolf in Book 2. It gives me a chance to work my mojo on a whole town full of those unsuspecting goons. Pick 'em off one by one as they come up the stairs... Mwoohaaahahahahahahaaaa!

I'm assuming we aren't including combats, just straight random number rolls. Which is ironic, because we'd all love to have a 90% chance of finishing Book 11. Unavoidable RN death rolls are in Book 2 (falling mast), Book 4 (bandit sniper), Book 5 (falling from Itikar). I believe all unavoidable RN rolls in the Magnakai series are 100% survivable with the right combination of discipline/rank/EP score. The Grandmaster series is of course a different story...

From what I recall, there were also plenty of "Your life and mission end here" statements in Caverns of Kalte! NS.

But I think those were all avoidable by taking a certain path or discipline. Unless... do you have to go the ice flow route?

That really depends on what I'm feeling like at the time NS.

But I think those were all avoidable by taking a certain path or discipline. Unless... do you have to go the ice flow route? Only if you want a particular item, namely: The FiresphereIn which case you have a 6% of instant death with Hunting, or a 12% without. I'm assuming your EP is 8 or above!

Hey Vonotar, if you're going to colour text to disguise a potential spoiler might I suggest using white instead of the easily-read yellow? All you have to do is change the tag from color=yellow to color=white.

I still like the yellow, myself... I mean, where else are you going to see yellow text. Or any of these colors!

Use Beige if you can't be bothered to alter the html.

I think I died twice playing book 2. But as I played it about 8 or 9 times I sort of figured out what worked. Of course I was reading these when I was about 10-12 so I often just read the alternatives anyway- to see what would happen to me i think one of the hardest ones for me was Wolf's Bane, I died most of the time I played it and only got through it about 2 times. hellebore
